Ummm, there are already 2 Poke restaurants within a block of there...Also interesting it looks likes it won't be just Bon Chon but a Poke place as well called Oishii Poke.

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)
Yeah, I was at the Apple Store yesterday, and they employees were commenting that one person would park, and then several others would follow their lead. I have a feeling that there is going to be a lot of cars dropping off or picking people up in the bike lane, even if they don’t officially park.

Re: MSP Airport
Just for fun (?), I made some maps of destinations from MSP on Great Circle Mapper. Data comes from wikipedia . Some destinations are seasonal, less than daily, etc... Here are flights outside the Lower 48 states, including future service and the not-100%-sure-thing service to Shanghai: http://www.g...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Looks like I was wrong about eliminating a lane, they hadn’t striped the center lane when I saw it last night, so it was hard to tell what the layout would be. It looks like they just narrowed lanes, so there is no bike lane buffer. So not great, but still an improvement I’d say. I hope folks who pa...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I noticed two new sections of bike lanes striped today that I hadn't heard anything about. The first is on 14th Ave SE between University and 5th. The second is being striped as I type this, LaSalle Ave south of Downtown. I didn't have as much a chance to check it out (its late!) but it appears that...

Why not South Of UPtown, or SOUP?

Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland
That is certainly possible, but not what is shown in the plans. Perhaps it was shifted? The site plan just shows trees along the sidewalk next to what is labeled as the “BRT Lane”, with a yellow box roughly corresponding to where the platform is shown in the 8th St. BRT layout.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Well, it is also every 15 minutes midday on weekdays, the same as planned Orange Line service. Yes, evening and weekend service is less than what will be offered, but it is still a significant improvement. Keep in mind that the I-35W bridge over the Minnesota River will start construction soon as we...

Is it my imagination, or does the plan call for a drive thru curb cut in the middle of the aBRT station platform?

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
It’s also possible that the Lake St. station and direct access ramps to downtown won’t be open until near the end of the I-35W project, both of which are pretty key parts of the line. Instead of opening the Orange Line before construction was finished, they decided to add weekend service to route 53...

Re: Upper Harbor Terminal
Why are keeping that useless industrial infrastructure? Gas Works Park in Seattle is a very popular area to visit that has maintained some of the old industrial infrastructure on the site. Part of it is that it has a great view of the Skyline overlooking Lake Union, but the ruins themselves are pop...

Re: Nicollet Mall
And even LaSalle! It's only a block west from Nicollet, but LaSalle always looks dead. Yeah, LaSalle north of Grant is pretty sad. Being wedged between Nicollet and Hennepin, pretty much every building treats it as its backside to be ignored. The only thing even resembling an active use I can think...

Re: Google Maps
Google’s 2D aerial imagery for a swath of Downtown Minneapolis has also been updated. It may be based on the 3D imagery that was loaded. It is higher resolution than the rest of the metro area imagery, but the stitching gets a bit wonky at the edges. Google Earth says it is from June 1st 2017, so on...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
The new establishment is one of several ways Jack Link's is building its visibility in downtown Minneapolis. Last month, the Wisconsin-based jerky purveyor opened a retail store in the renovated Target Center, its first in the country. This month, Jack Link's employees are starting to move into new...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
A couple minor comments/questions about the Nicollet Mall routings. The 10 will take Washington to 3rd to cross the river, while the 17/25 will use the old routing of Washington to Marquette/2nd to 1st to reach the bridge. Why not just pick one? It doesn't do a better job of serving the area north o...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I believe google maps now defaults to the 3D view which is more outdated. If you toggle 3D off, you will see a more recent image. For example, US Bank Stadium is completed in the 2D view. Huh. I get the same images in 2D and 3D, and none of US Bank, the Wells Fargo Towers and related developments, ...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I don't think the reasoning was ever officially explained very well, but I don't think they would have been able to do one consistent detour route throughout the entirety of the construction project very easily. When buses were first rerouted to Marquette, 2nd, and 3rd, there was a resurfacing proje...
