Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)
you know I've kind of been wondering why they go with a sales tax increase rather then a real estate or something since one of the main benefits to a new transit lines is that they are a magnet for new economic development around it. But then again I know absolutely nothing about how MN tax works so...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
So anyone go to SPUD yesterday for train days, dropped by to look around and got some packets but didn't really have time to ask any questions for the people running each booth.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
with this hopefully most of the drama around SW dies down aside from a few shouts here and there from a small group of individuals. That being said funding for operating the line becomes the main issue (which might be better suited for the Minnesota Transportation Funding thread) but if I had one id...

Mini Jimmy's" for $6 http://www.citypages.com/restaurants/you-can-get-jimmy-johns-sandwiches-on-sun-country-flights-now/420890393 OK I work at a JJ's and am somewhat used to the debatable overpriced sandwiches, but 6 bucks for a Mini which is only half of a normal sandwich, you have to be kidd...

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars
Might be a bit late to voice my opinion on driverless cars, in theory I like them but the biggest issue I see them from becoming reality is one very big monkey wrench, human drivers. The test footage I've seen of driverless cars seems like there only operated on close tracks/very quiet streets and t...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I'm curious if they do start setting up retail at some of the station whether or not some of the money will go back to metro transit to help pay for the systems overall operating costs and whether or not it will help that much. Also this kind of reminds me of an idea a friend had where metro/Hennepi...

Re: Metro Transit fares
They do have ticket machines but there not on the station platforms which is probably the biggest issue trying to implement it into our system, it kinda works like how you trsnsfer from bus to bus here where you insert your ticket in a machine then spits it back out.

Re: Metro Transit fares
Might only be me but with the fair increase I kind of hope metro starts talking about the possibility of adding more zones besides the 2 downtown ones as well as an easier way to pay for them. For instance I know I'm being a little idealistic but I kind of imagine something like the London undergrou...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
The only thing I'm scratching my head about is why they didn't attempt this first if its for the good of MN to stop the swlrt since because of there earlier attempt to literally different funds to roads seems like a last ditch attempt to direct money elsewhere.

Re: Hopkins - General Topics
I kind of which they could of started earlier or later so that construction wouldn't interfere with the Raspberry Festival in July, specifically Saturday and Sunday when its already kind of a nightmare trying to navigate downtown, but you cant have everything. Also I'm willing to bet once the Artery...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
This is interesting, always thought it was a little bit of a waste to have the line never getting to st cloud. Since it looks like at the moment 1 roundtrip a day I imagine that its going to use one of the weekday trains so if your coming from st. cloud you don't have to hop on the northstar link th...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Since at the moment it looks like the project is using the same rolling stock (Siemens Charger) as Brightline in Florida I wonder if the service proves successful this summer, it might make BNSF or MNDOT take a few notes for the NLX.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
So I take it at best construction will start in summer which around the Hopkins might be a bit of a nightmare with that and the 169 bride of nine mile closed in till October and as whether the FTA funding will be pulled i'm kind of leaning towards the side of it probably not going to happen since we...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Any idea when construction is supposed to start, I know it was said it would start this year and run into 2020 with service beginning in 2021 but given how its still being heavily fought over in the capital I hope I'm wrong but I kind of have a gut feeling than the December 31st will roll around and...
