Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
The Hennepin/Lyndale project utility work started today, and whether on purpose or not, it closed the northbound bus stops at Groveland and Oak Grove. It sounds like quite a few people have commented on it today, to say the least. I'm hoping that they'll open up tomorrow or sometime soon - otherwise...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map
Looks like a Potbelly's is going into the Flooring Expo building at 28th and Hennepin. So with Giordanos a block away, when do we start calling this strip of Hennepin "Little Chicago"?

Re: U of M Private Research Park
Not directly within the Research Park boundaries, but I just chatted with someone at the old Harris Machinery site for a bit, and it sounds like the developer wants to put a hotel in this site. Sounds like they are also going to try to preserve the original Harris building too, but is in really roug...

Re: Dinkytown
Looks like the Library Bar is constructing a cool outdoor patio area behind their building on a former underutilized surface parking area. Should be nice for the college hipster-bros come September. Also, the Co-op building looks like it was delightfully built with yellow legos. If this doesn't add ...

Bike lanes have been painted on 4th in the commercial core!

I feel like this, in addition with the new bus stop sign rollout, makes 2015 the Minneapolis urbanist year of "finally!"

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Yes, the south side. I think the pavilion would get enough sunlight from the Portland corridor to justify the move. I am just worried there are currently not enough consistently engaged uses on the south side of the park, which may lead to an unintentional park "divide" of use. The design ...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Oddly enough, the drive lanes will be 13' wide, up from 11' in the existing configuration, which seems counterproductive. My guess is they're actually 11' lanes with a 2' curb & gutter on each side, assuming they are still going to rebuild it with a standard road section configuration. Anyways,...

Re: Stadium Village
I've run into a lot of non-students in this area (who are, ironically, close to retirement age) who would love to rent/buy a condo near the U of MN but can't due to the limited supply of non-student housing. The 19 stories of residential could easily be divided between students & non-students. T...

Re: Stadium Village
My initial quick take: Don't approve the tower unless there will be the same amount or a greater number of retail spaces that are present today. If it is just the Village Wok building, that is 6 retail spaces (the Big Ten sub shop counted separately). That bumps up to 8 if you include FedEx and Abdu...

The Hub Minneapolis - 600 Washington Ave SE (284' - 26 Stories)
Adam Voge reporting that former Opus developers are planning a 27 story (!!!!!) tower somewhere in Stadium Village. Rendering looks to have it where Espresso Expose, Bun Mi, Big Ten & Village Wok are currently located. http://finance-commerce.com/2015/05/harbor-bay-assembles-sites-for-27-story-t...

Re: Dinkytown
The added parking on the bridges actually will be making up for the lost parking along the north side 4th Street from 15th to 13th. They will (finally!!) be putting a bike lane here, connecting the chunk of missing bike infra along 4th. Related to the Dinkytown bridges: Weren't they supposed to buil...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
If you think this wasn't going to pass had the picture the media shown included the park being severed by a road, you're not looking closely enough at who the vested interests are for the entire DTE redevelopment. True, which is why it's so strange that the public had to be, and continues to be, si...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
The main reason the whole Wells Fargo development came to fruition was a combination of conveniently timed factors. Rybak wanted to leverage the required MSFA parking spaces as a lure for potential development on the Strib blocks. Meanwhile, WF was thinking about moving their main operations out of ...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
The apartment currently has a retail spot designed at the SE corner of 4th and 5th Street. Talking with Frey, he is pushing to add another to 5th and 5th. Two retail slots at either end of the park would enhance it, especially if they were restaurants with patio seating. I like the apartment additio...

Re: Metro Transit Service Improvement Plan 2014
Just noticed the new route 33 to be deployed in 2018-2020. I would have killed for this route in college - I lived right near the dog leg where Elm & Kasota meet and the 3K bus came about four times a month. Connecting to Westgate Station would also be the sneakiest way to get to Dinkytown from ...

Re: The 700 on Washington - (700 Washington Avenue Southeast
I think the patio looks great. You have great vantage points looking to the McNamara park across the street, and the huge windows into the bar allow you to consume all the sports on TV. Sarcasm aside, this place will definitely be ROCKING come fall, especially with the unfortunate closure of Campus ...

Walked by Sally's last night... TVs were on, people were sitting outside on the patio.
Looks like this place is finally open, just in time for the 2014 football season.
