Duffy Paper Development by Cedar Street Cos
The Development Tracker reports on plans for 2 of the Duffy Paper buildings as well as an apartment lined ramp for the surface lot. Tons of retail, tons of interesting amenities, good looking buildings, not a crazy amount of parking. I like it. Thought it deserved its own thread. https://www.tdtmpls...

Re: Dinky "tower" - McDonalds redevelopment
A significantly better looking project. The scale is humane, the materials of decent quality, pedestrian spaces and lots of retail. I'm very glad that previous monstrosity (and I'm a fan of brutalism ) is a thing of the past.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I knew a few people who worked there one of my friends said "they told us a little... i guess unbeknownst to us they had been struggling to keep up even before the pandemic hit. now they say there’s just no way they could afford to reopen and stuff since everything will be different for a long ...

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development
I like the look of the buildings and the scale, here's hoping they are on board to build active street fronts as they pitched when proposing the stadium. They look pretty questionable in the current drawings.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
Yeah there's definitely a lot of work to be done in ensuring it's not a car funnel. I would suggest 28th to 32nd be vastly calmed and made into a semi self sufficient little urban node of its own. The area se of this is a major car playground.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
Potentially making local traffic drive half a mile around their destination for a 1 block calmed pedestrian area? Who said one block? I'm eyeing at least 28th to Lake. But who are "people?" Because there are people on buses (eventually streetcar?), bikes and foot too. Especially local tra...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
I don't think it's a great idea to close the street to automobiles. I'm a big fan of having as many open free streets for all modes as possible. I'm trying to imagine the congestion on blaisdell and 1st, and overly convoluted routes around the area if this would be. It would be a disservice to pede...

I'd imagine it's because it's about to have a light rail stop, it's very close to north loop, has the farmers market and is literally nothing but potential.

Yeah, not even bothering to try for a legalization bill seems like a good way to lose a possibly crucial amount of votes to the weed parties. Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave
I wonder if the horizontal bands/vertical columns are actually stone/tile or just stamped concrete - would hope the former. The building is clad in a stone called Alabama silver shadow. A natural limestone. One of my favorites, actually. It will have natural marble line veining when clean and dry. ...

Re: Melzer Block (E Hennepin between Univ and 4th) for Sale
I'm all about dense urban development, but this is a really nice collection of urban, street activating retail. I'd be really upset to see this block go. Taking out the section on university maybe but... this is crucial ne history.
