Re: North Loop Neighborhood

This is another sign that the city (and Metro Transit) really, really, really need to figure out how to better serve the North Loop with transit. Yes, it's so lacking. I don't know, maybe have continual "circulator" buses that stem from the core and S-cut through the North Loop via, like,...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Exactly. I can't imagine it's more cost effective. I don't know if something arose with the Library cooperation? Wasn't an issue before. And like alexschief said, it's hideous and will make the Marquette Plaza building look like a giant flatscreen TV with an ugly power cord hanging across Nicollet.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System

Not adding anything new, just chiming in. I've been a downtown resident for 16 years, and I love the skyway system. Well, maybe appreciate is a better word. I always opt for sidewalks, because it just humanly more normal, fresh air and city experiences, and as the crow flies, skyways don't have effi...

The Origami building is getting some brick TLC the past few days. Any news upon what may go in there?

Re: Washington Avenue

Or, how about leaving the building vaulted on the 4 legs as designed. End of story. There's more than enough store frontage on Washington... if there was any interest.

Washington Square - 20, 100, 111 Washington Avenue S

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. (Did a search) The glass lobby addition to the 100 Washington building looks like tacked-on crap, IMHO. I know they needed their backside serviced because of leakage, so that work makes sense. Wasn't this a Minoru Yamasaki designed building? Like it ...

Re: Mill City Quarter - 300 South 2nd Street

I'm still waiting for the woonerf to connect to the river. At the moment, it looks like it will end just south under the the 3rd Ave. bridge, in a Thelma & Louise sort of way.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

Initially the first phase was only going to be green space...we ended up with a lot more than that. I think the future phases probably won't be completed as planned, but we will see additions/changes as the park ages. Agreed. IMO, there's no amount of money, studies, or algorithms factoring workfor...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park

The fences are down on the second block, although it looks like they are still doing finishing touches. Walked through this morning. The park certainly looks nice, and will be great for the residents of the Edition, but I'm still concerned about what people will do in it when there aren't events at...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)

I walked over the ped bridge, took a look from below. I like it more than I thought. I just don't care for the arches by the station. I understand the artistic connection to the river, but ugh. Is there a precedent for removing commissioned art like this? Maybe move it to Scherer Park.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

The only thing I really don't like is the visual exhaustion that the new ped bridge, the station, the arches, and all the other stuff over there are now. It's just such a jumble.

The thing is I, like many people who live in my building, have a pretty expendable income. We talk about wanting better retail and restaurant options downtown.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Exactly, WTF. This is fantastic news. At least with this store, Off Saks, etc. a moderate income person can patronize and make purchases frequently. That's what the Mall needs.
