Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News

Rosedale is already the healthiest mall in the area, isn't it?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

To be sure, my point was more that car-free lifestyles are possible in some parts of the city, but that the metro at large is not at all hospitable to walking and taking transit anywhere, much less everywhere.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

There is little holding Americans on to their vehicles other than inertia. More than 3.6 million people live in the Twin Cities metro, and fewer than 750,000 live in Minneapolis or St. Paul. Downtown Minneapolis has 44,000 residents and 160,000 daily workers. No matter how you look at it, most of t...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017

These politics threads have quieted down recently, so figured I'd bump this one up. Almost one year in now, what's the feeling on Jacob Frey? I've overall been pleasantly satisfied with him so far. The big concern during the election seemed to be that he was more style than substance, but I don't th...

So he won the election because the restaurant threatened to move? Or what exactly are you saying?

Didn't the sculpture garden leave some stuff at Gold Medal Park? I'm pretty sure they're still there. The sculptures really added to the park.

Not sure if it's in that article (locked), but isn't Syngenta moving its operations to Chicago in two years? So kind of a short-term win.

I don't know if this is new or not, but T-Rex Cookie says it's closing the shop at the end of the year for the construction, but they plan to re-open the store in the new development in late 2020.

There's a survey here, but more interesting is a lot of ideas for improving the parks along the Mississippi River gorge.

What's up with that little subdivision by the river where all the roads are curvy and named things like Coffman?

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

I know this is probably wishful thinking through blue-colored glasses, but I'd be curious what would have happened if Pawlenty run an adult-in-the-room, rich-guy-from-Eagan campaign that better reflect who he actually is, rather than so baldly trying to piggyback on Trump's immigration rhetoric and ...

I don't know anything about anything, but it seems impossible to me that Swanson will do well after that and Rick Nolan's #issues. Is there some massive DFL voting bloc that is pro-Swanson and anti-news that I'm overlooking, though?

Re: Weyerhaueser site redevelopment - 700 Emerald St

As of a few days ago all that was left was one long structure down the middle of the property, so if it's not gone already I'd expect the site to be cleared by the end of the week. Quite a change in the look here.

I'm sure it will, just interesting since there are although tons of housing units within like two blocks of here. I'd like to see Hodges Bend make it.

Re: 2700 University Avenue Development

Not in this building, but somewhat relevant is that the Dunn Bros. in the adjacent Metro Lofts building — which has been there for at least a decade and is adjacent to the green line station — just closed. So that leaves two empty retail bays in Metro Lofts. Hodges Bend is going to need some good lu...
