Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

It's pretty premature to judge the wrap, considering it's not finished and not lit up yet.

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S (187' - 17 Stories)

When pointed out these buildings are pretty black, but in context with the city I've actually noticed that they're dark or similar looking. Everything could always be better, but at the end of the day this doesn't feel like a negative quality, just an observable quality.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

I went by from the north (i.e. on the train) for the first time today, and the north side is really striking with the roof line dipping down. It really does look like a spaceship, albeit a spaceship with a McDonalds out front.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

IMO Walz is much better known that Murphy in general. It'd be one thing if we were talking about one of the big-city mayors, but I doubt most people in the metro had even heard of Erin Murphy before she ran for governor. Same for her running mate.

There's no sign of flooding or even any damage left today.

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Does anyone know if St. Paul has plans in the near future to re-do Pelham Avenue from Franklin to the river? The industrial area north of 94 is pretty bad, but it's almost worse in the residential area to the south.

Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE

The spots that remain unfilled are between the light rail station and the rest of Stadium Village, which I would argue are better locations than some of the ones already filled. Makes you wonder what they're waiting for.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News

I've always heard really high praise for Heyday but location-wise it felt more like a neighborhood restaurant than somewhere exciting to go have an expensive meal. So a few times I considered it while looking for a nice dinner, but instead always ended up somewhere more "happening" like the North Lo...

For the record, there are still like three vacant retail spaces here.

Re: Boulevard trees

Jeez, four years since the last post in this thread (I didn't even realize this site had been around that long), but reactivating a trees thread, here's a nice article from the Journal about tree plans.

You'll be disappointed to hear then that the new paths are on the southern part, so not by the hill.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

Yeah the original estimates would have been for a pretty bare bones stadium, which never jived with the kind of stadium they were talking about building. I always figured they planned to spend much more but didn't want to overcommit at the beginning, especially since it all came together very fast a...

Not sure where else to put this but they appear to be adding a second path adjacent to the main bike path at Bohemian Flats.

The old mobile app had a finite number of available stories at a given time but was otherwise really easy to use. This one is really just a browser. Meh.

Re: Star Tribune

Anyone else hate the new Star Tribune app? It's basically a slower version of their mobile website that lacks basic functionality for a news app, like being able to scroll "back."

We will keep you posted on this development! Meanwhile we are open to ideas on what T-Rex Cookie should do during this build. Our t...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Y'know, we used to have good corporate citizens; companies that did things for the city/region/state even if it cost them a little. 40 years of extreme capitalist rhetoric has destroyed our collective memory of it. Now, "it's just business," and, "this is normal business practice," and "they're jus...

Re: Ayd Mill Road

Ayd Mill is a challenge for me, because it's right at the part of my commute where my coffee is at an adequate temperature to drink, but then it's hard to actually drink the coffee because the road is so bumpy. It gets me every time. 🤷‍♂️
