Rick Kupchella’s Bring Me The News is an aggregator, no? I haven’t paid much attention.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

The Dunn Bros in Metro Lofts adjacent to the Westgate LRT station closed under kind of random circumstances last year too. As far as I know it’s still empty.

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)

The population comparisons from PLGTMD are interesting, though I think focusing on total population numbers kind of misses the essence of the discussion being had here. The metropolitan area surrounding Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo has roughly 4x more population than the Twin Cities ...

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)

A big reason Cleveland and Cincinnati have better visibility than Columbus is because the Indians, Red, Browns and Bengals. The baseball teams have been around basically as long as the sport has, and the Browns pre-date the Super Bowl. Columbus, from afar, is easy to mistake for a peer to cities lik...

Them moving to Midway also would have generated an interesting discussion surrounding the massive parking ramp they inevitably would have had to build.

I can't imagine there are many trips on the Parkway for which 62 would be the next-best fit. Not saying that as a good or bad thing, just an observation.

What’s the general end game behind the viaduct removal dream? Just move the freeway entrances farther out? Or is the idea that we get rid of them altogether?

Re: Electric Scooters

Somebody parked two electric scooters in the boulevard in front of my house this morning, which stressed me out because 1) why did they park in front of my house? and 2) how long were they going to sit in front of my house in the middle of a random residential block in South Minneapolis? But then my...

Re: Midtown Corridor Rail & Lake Street aBRT (B Line)

To talindsay, I think that assessment of East Lake and Marshall is true for much of the day, but the bridge becomes a major pinch point at rush hour, and removing one or even two lanes of traffic could really back things up. I travel from Fairview into Minneapolis daily, and getting from Cleveland t...

Re: West End / Central Park West Development - St. Louis Park

Yeah you always drive around forever only to end up in the far corner anyway. The above ground ramp is probably worse though, from a pedestrian standpoint. It’s a maze seemingly not taking into account that you have to get out of your car after parking.

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics

According to a neighborhood email group, the Schneider pharmacy at University and Bedford is closing as a result of the building being sold. No other real info, but this would seemingly be a ripe location for more redevelopment. It's adjacent to a Green Line stop, and there's already been a lot of a...
