Re: West End / Central Park West Development - St. Louis Park

I never rant on this site but I'm feeling kinda punchy today! There are sooo many issues with West End that could be improved with even a tiny bit of sensitivity to design. The parking lot to the east of Duke Drive has no ground floor pedestrian street access that I can see. You are required to take...

Re: 2800 Wayzata Blvd. (Former Northwestern Bell offices)

They've already updated the bus stop a bit so that it has a proper place to stand. The Google image is outdated. I would hope that they would add a shelter at some point. Also, for some reason the manholes on that stretch of road are oddly deep which makes for a bumpy ride.

Re: 2800 Wayzata Blvd. (Former Northwestern Bell offices)

Not sure why this would be considered car-dependent. It is directly on the #9 bus route that goes downtown.

Re: West Elm Hotel & Condos - 102-120 1st Street N

We've had a few sources confirm that the West Elm Hotel is not dead, it has just moved sites. More information to come soon! I hope this is true! Minneapolis is still listed as a location on their website for what it's worth. I'm actually more excited about having a West Elm store closer to the dow...

Re: City of Minneapolis Office Building - 501 4th Ave S - 11 stories / 171'

Is there really a parking shortage in Minneapolis? I have literally never had an issue finding a parking spot. As we speak my car is in a ramp with hundreds of empty spaces available. Granted, I'm not parked within a block of my destination but that doesn't really bother me.

Re: West Lake Street Hotel- 3012 Excelsior Blvd (8 stories, 100')

I had a friend visiting from DC this weekend and he was thrilled to see that there was finally a hotel in Uptown. He said he's tired of having to stay downtown.

This is definitely in my top 5 favorite suburban buildings. An adaptive reuse of this area and that building would be amazing.
Agreed. Perhaps even in my top 5 of all buildings in the city!

Does anyone have any news on the West Elm Hotel and Store that was discussed early last year?

This makes me sad. For some reason I really like that parking ramp. Maybe even love it a little bit.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

I was in Seattle last week and stayed in a hotel 1 block from the Amazon "Campus". I have to say that I was blown away by the amount of development going on in that area of town (South Lake Union). I lived and worked in that area in the early 90's and I have to say that it is a shockingly different ...

The Ace Hotel is moving along nicely. That area is starting to feel quite dense.

Looks like the only change they are making is to make it more difficult to get to the skyway level by removing the escalators. Oh, and filling it with IKEA furniture.

At least the pedestrian bridge is being used. There were literally thousands of people using it Sunday night. I actually got caught on it walking west while everyone else was walking east. I was just there to bear witness.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

Can someone clear something up for me? It's my understanding that the only tax that is being used to help pay for the stadium in an "inventory tax on cigarettes" and a gambling tax. Am I completely off on this? Because I've seen lots of criticisms of the stadium making it sound like every person in ...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Took the train to Target Field last night (first time since I moved into my house 1.5 blocks from 46th St Station). So much noise and vibration on the downtown segment. It was really, really unpleasant. Like so bad that I would be embarrassed if I was showing a visitor around or trying to sell some...
