Hennepin and lagoon

Is there a thread going for the project at that intersection? I've been watching this building get taken apart for a while now and I'm just wondering if anybody knows what the whole project consists of.

Re: UMN Streetscape Lab

A few projects are still up. There is a closing reception tomorrow night at the city center and our projects will be displayed in the windows for a while.

It is really unfortunate the I pushed off informing urbanmsp about it.

UMN Streetscape Lab

Hey all, It has been quite a while since I have been on this forum but I still love it. I wanted to tell you about a class I am in the in using the corner storefront space at City Center. We are working with the DID and Made Here to build objects that are to be placed in the built environment. We ha...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I'd like to see something more like lancecaster posted in London. I like these crazy designs but they have no staying power in the fast pace athletic stadiums. I like The Walker, The Wiesman, and The Guthrie as our 2000+ iconic buildings. If we want to be a cutting edge city, we need more edgy resid...

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)

I have a legitimate source inside for Target, a lead designer there, who told me they plan to go at least 60 stories on this site in the near future. Also, every target is remodeled every 7 years so it makes sense that Target DT will be remodeled soon. This project was a design/build project, so it ...

Re: 1016 Marquette / Realestate Recycling Office Building

Yeah, the last proposal was similar, or at least we had something up on the old thread about it. I too hope this thing goes up because cutting edge design on small scale projects will continue to push the city in the direction that i believe most of us here are desiring.

Re: Office Market

Okay, here's a bit of a tangent... Personally, a lot of what I'm seeking is just a return to the small-town life I knew as a kid, just amped up a fair bit so it isn't quite so boring: We had a grocery in the middle of town which I walked past every day on my way to school. There was a hardware stor...

Re: Mozaic

I don't get the gripping about Mozaic. Its cement so it will age well. It has a public plaza with public art. It adds parking to an area that desperately needed it. Parking that is set back and hardly noticable, blending with the transit that already moved through there. It adds high end office spac...

So far, the visibility on the house there is much better than I expected too. I actually think it is complimented well by the development.

Dang. I am glad the rending included the retractable roof. I was wondering what that would look like. I am also interested in hearing more about the place in the basement.

Re: 600 5th Street North

Maybe the surburbs help finance MPLS... I tend to disagree but it am not gonna have THAT debate. I just want to say the unless someone is planning to building some super cutting edge residence, everyone is going to keep it plain and simple. Considering that we are already getting our "cutting edge" ...

It looks like most of the plan revolves around water maintenance, which is pretty cool. Are they planning a walking bridge across franklin to the platform?

Re: Lake & Nicollet

I am fine with cars on Nicollet between Franklin and Lake, but I really wish they had more median planters and midblock pedestrian refuges. This would lush up the space and make it easier to cross mid-block. I could deal with this. Do something like they just did out on Lyndale south of Lyn-Lake. T...

Re: Vikings Stadium

thats a little bit better but it seems so corporate. I don't think there is a stadium out there that will push the bounds like metrodome 2.0 will. Also, wouldn't it be crazy if they named it that?
