Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

Now for a skeptical take: Thomas Lifson blogs at The American Thinker, https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/12/changing_the_character_of_minneapolis_in_the_name_of_diversity_and_equality.html Basically casts shade at everything in ways we’ve come to see from the Red Sign Brigade at Minneapolis...

2210 Apartments, 2210 4th Ave S

4 story addition with 19 units to an existing 1960s era building. Nice apartment layouts, bizarre exterior color.

Re: Elliot Park

Yes, those townhomes are hideous and should be replaced. Yes, the existing apartment building (fmr Madison School) should be renovated. Cool. But replacing the townhomes with a tiny 3-story, 22-unit apartment building in this location? Not acceptable. I don't expect them to build Grant Park or Skys...

This will directly block the remaining viewshed left of ING and the Grain Belt sign. I don't argue for views much, but this is all too wrong.
The skyways ruin ALL view-sheds in Minneapolis. One of their greatest downfalls.

Seems like an awful lot of money to spend on a 'back-up project'

The cracks shown in the photo above are visible in Google Maps satellite imagery when the theatre was still there.

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

Look at the lack of mortar on the sills and the erosion of the brick. You can also see the patches in the cracks. Image

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

The building had cracks before construction started- most of the cracks I saw in photos had been patched in the past and simply reopened. The building had/ has serious water infiltration issues in the walls from poorly maintained tuck-pointing and roof issues. This is in no-way 100% related to the c...

It's big, old, and used to be professionally lit for the holidays every year. A local landmark of sorts.

Glad they're keeping that big oak tree, though it may not survive construction of the retail building.

Re: Maintaining old houses

Ultra efficient windows will push moisture infiltration into your wall cavities- just be aware. Very nice tilt & turns are made by Marvin I think. I've seen them installed in Minneapolis in a few projects.
