+2 large influxes of office workers in the near future (Hennepin County consolidating into the old Thrivent building and Minneapolis consolidating into the new building). The demand for services in this area is just going to keep increasing.

This area of a few blocks is set to absorb over 800 housing units in the next year or so, pretty cool. Hopefully this means even more neighborhood-oriented businesses will follow.

Yes, surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but (if I'm reading correctly) the condo component has increased to 50 units. They also now describe a potential scenario where both the hotel and condos components are replaced with apartments if the hotel is "deemed unfeasible".

Re: US Congress and MN House Elections 2018

I've got no love for Swanson, but it was clearly Ellison's bizarre decision to walk away from being a Representative to pursue the AG position that really caused the chaos. Someone clearly had to get in. Matt Pelikan can't be the de-facto nominee. Not seeing how Ellison's decision is bizarre in any...

Yep, this feels like preparation for finally accepting a bid and getting construction moving. Original bid target was probably ~100 million lower, but that just doesn't seem attainable in the current construction climate.

And hey look, we have $72 million going towards "Local Road Program Undesignated". Nothing like using state dollars from the bondi...

No, they actually recommend denial of "reguiding" the future land use from Industrial to Transitional Industrial. I really don't know what to make of this. Apparently the North Loop is intended to have an extremely stark cut-off between the neighborhood and pure industrial? The portion of the small-...

Community meeting update: developers have hilariously added a pathway between the sidewalk on Stinson Parkway and one of the buildings "fronting" the street, because this is the kind of thing you can do when you propose a 95 foot set-back from the sidewalk. They've also added a remarkable "proof of ...

Dr. David C. Herman, Essentia's CEO, said it's too early to know exactly how much the health system will spend as it revitalizes the sprawling campus on the east end of Duluth's downtown. But he said it will exceed anything Essentia has spent before anywhere, including the $91 million to build the ...
