Re: Suburban City Councils, shenanigans

Are you really just saying pictures meant to shame should be illegal or do you have a hang up with female breasts? Here, let me google that for you - https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/617.261 Yes, "pictures meant to shame" is exactly the kind of thing envisioned by the revenge porn...

Re: Suburban City Councils, shenanigans

Look at this disgusting sexist pig that just actually wrote all those words defending the act of posting a naked picture of his ex wife with the explicit purpose of shaming and embarrassing her. Your attitude is remarkably sexist and abusive. It's 2018, have some basic human decency. QFT I never cl...

Re: Suburban City Councils, shenanigans

What the hell is wrong with you, posting someone's naked photo without their consent should absolutely be illegal. She wasn't naked. If posting pics of women who go topless in public places should be illegal, so should posting pics of topless men. I'm sure there are literally millions of men who wo...

Re: Suburban City Councils, shenanigans

He was released from jail today, presumably because no charges were filed in the 'revenge porn' accusation. This is definitely the right call in my opinion. It appears the picture he posted was likely taken in public (on a beach?), and the portrayal of breasts should certainly not be considered de f...

Yeah, the whole 'island' thing; as someone suggested might not be all that appealing to actually live there.

I suspect there might be some perceived risk with this site which precludes a developer from going too bold...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Those previous two responses are funny because I once had a friend who is not price sensitive call me solely because he needed to vent on his experience at Be’wiched: said it was over-priced and the staff acted like they were doing him a favor by charging him $14 for a very mediocre sandwich.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Southwest LRT makes a heavily pedestrian/transit focused Hennepin Ave redo more likely. I never thought of it this way, it is a great point. I am in the camp of Minneapolis, outside of the CBD, has plenty of surface ROW to make an excellent transit system. People lament the fact that there isn't po...

Re: Nicollet Mall

They like cool climates and lots of moisture...surrounded by hot concrete wouldn't be their favorite. They used some River Birch (I know the city has been doing some of those on the boulevards) and Paper Birch (white bark). The River Birch are more hardy and stronger. I hope the city isn't putting ...

Re: Nicollet Mall

I would expect them to be late...the first few years. And some will surely need to be replaced. Large trees always look a little iffy when they are moved. We have seen good examples with Gold Medal Park, recently the Commons (those trees are still going through growing pains) and now here. It is ni...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Y'know, we used to have good corporate citizens; companies that did things for the city/region/state even if it cost them a little. 40 years of extreme capitalist rhetoric has destroyed our collective memory of it. Now, "it's just business," and, "this is normal business practice,&qu...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

So this is four months after they initially put forward the same statement. At that time some responses here suggested this was normal course of business stuff. Is that still valid? Seems like at the very least four months have passed with no progress, which doesn’t sound good...

Saw on social media that Finer Meats is now listed as 'Permanently Closed' when you do the initial google search thing. I was under the impression they were remodeling. Anyone have any insight?

EDIT: per their facebook page, it appears the food truck is still in operation as of yesterday...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Isn't there the potential for a big payday for TC&W here? They are in a strong position, but if SWLRT was truly that detrimental to their operations they would have just said no in the first place, wouldn't they have? I mean, if that assumption is true, I can totally understand them holding out ...

Hey, anything that brings more bodies in to Club Jager is a win-win!
Has anybody actually seen anyone go in that place since it 're-opened'? I've kinda tried to peek, but don't really want to risk someone taking my picture at the door!

Oh geez, come on people. "Can I get around in a top-15 historic metro blizzard in the entire history of the state of Minnesota?" is not a question people care about when deciding between city and suburb. You are conveniently framing that way too narrowly. Lower reliance on the automobile ...

OH, THE HORROR OF BEING STUCK IN MY COZY TOASTY HOUSE WHILE A GOD DAMNED BLIZZARD WAS HOWLING OUTSIDE.
Wow, touchy. Perhaps a bit stir crazy after being cooped up all weekend?

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)

After this blizzard I want to give a shout out to density and how it makes life possible during storms like this. My wife and I live just south of Downtown and were able to walk to the Downtown library and take the Green Line to check out the Fresh Thyme at the U of M. The trains were running off s...

Admittedly know nothing about this except for the article I just read after seeing the post, but doesn't it seem more likely that if they were to merge that it would be more like Target 'acquiring' Kroger in the mechanics of how it actually went down? Target has faced challenges, but seems to have r...

Re: Making my own drawings

Getting full plan & 3-d architecture drawings actually helped us to decide NOT to do a project they way we originally envisioned. The best 'throw-away' money I ever spent.
