Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News

‘Cursed’ restaurant space once home to Uptown's Old Chicago has likely claimed its last victim *LOCKED* Gist: With the closing of Uptown restaurant Piggy Bank this week, 2841 Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis has cycled through six restaurants in six years — developing a reputation as a “cursed” locatio...

Re: Nicollet 301 - 20 stories - 241'

Question: At one time there was a plan for an awful skyway running from the Gateway project to Marquette Plaza. I’m assuming this was replaced by the proposal to run the skyway from the Gateway through the library to 301 Nicollet, then on to 365, etc, etc. Does anyone know if 301 were not to be bui...

Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 250 Hennepin Ave - 21 stories - 256'

Great to see some action finally happening here. Given the position of this building at the edge of the higher rise core of downtown, it will be a good transition to the 519’ across Hennepin and another good addition to the Washington streetscape. No this isn’t spectacular architecture, but it is c...

Put another way, "your main business corridor has to be an unpleasant street so that we can run limited stop transit service through your neighborhood" is not actually much better than "your main business corridor has to be an unpleasant street so we can run a highway through your neighborhood." Some more info about the water park and hotel in the Bloomington Port Authority meeting information from Oct 29. Looks like the developments after the waterpark are hotel and office, so unlikely to see any more retail built. https://agendasuite.org/iip/bloomington/agendaitem/details/7642 The Planni...

I'll also add that there is ventilation moving fresh air throughout the area. That's always been the case - even before light rail entered the transit station.

One would think there should be a way for them to give access to that turnaround through the parking ramp, instead of off 11th. There's already a walkway cut through there - would be tough to make that a tad bit bigger for vehicles. https://i.imgur.com/Wlblzlt.png?1 https://i.imgur.com/FhdefTF.png?1...

I just think it's a weird place to build apartments. It would be convenient for someone who worked at Ecolab, Prime, or one of the other companies nearby, but there's nothing else in the area for shopping and services, other than the new Costco soon and a few restaurants at 55 and Dodd. This is les...

Fire station looks much worse in this They changed the floor plan, with that corner going from 2 stories to 1 with a shift in where the trucks park. My guess is this was a Fire Department ask. Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

The TIF plan report does have what appears to be an updated rendering of the tower. I actually really liked the previous design so the new look is a bit disappointing in my opinion. Agreed, it's a minor adjustment, but I do prefer the darker material featured on the west side from the previous rend...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

The new Thrivent building is not as bad as the renderings made it seem, but it is still a bit on the disappointing side. This could have been a much more interesting structure, but it is basically a banded box with a skinny box tacked on to the end of it. The finishes are better than I anticipated....
