Re: Southside - General Topics

I just hope they replace the south facing glass block windows (from Sunrise's era) with real windows eventually. There's absolutely no reason to keep those, except for expense. But the place could be that much better with outside eyes in and vice versa.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

Haven't people been asking that question the past 3-4 years? Unless the economy goes into a deep recession, I doubt there will be a sustained downturn in the level of development that's been happening. There are plenty of national developers that have the cash to keep things moving. High constructi...

Re: MSP Airport

Thanks for sharing! I do hope they'll figure out a better way to connect transit to the hotel, for a multitude of reasons! They plan on having like 4 different restaurants plus the observation bar that I'd like to check out, without needing to drive there. I hope the airport has a long-term plan, es...

Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 18-20 stories

A Walgreens 4 blocks from a brand (kinda) new Walgreens? It might only be 6 (is more accurate) blocks, as the crow flies, but there's a HUGE mental block between North Loop and 7th & Nicollet for most people. No difference between the CVS at 11th & Hennepin... which is actually 'closer' to Walgreens.

Re: Nicollet Mall

I know it's not the same as actually being there, but a quick Google Maps trip down 16th Street (imagery from 2017-18) and it's almost indistinguishable from Nicollet. Some chain restaurants. A Panera. A few local upscale bars. Corporate buildings built with no regard for the mall. Some brutalism. ...

IDEA: What if we just enact a 0.5% transit sales tax at MOA (though not on clothes obviously, but there's still plenty of restaurant & entertainment revenue to tax) Not to be a bug, but doesn't Hennepin County already collect a 0.5% transit sales tax on MOA (taxable) purchases, and everywhere else ...

I know it’s just the committee of the whole packet, but maybe adding a little more color to the tower portion.
I love it as-is - there's so much else over there that's already dark, this helps break up that monotony.

Two more towers would make a nice string of towers on this side of the falls. I hope the coming recession. Doesn’t kill that.
I loved Steve Minn's version of that side of the river from a decade ago. I remember discussing it on Minnescraper. But I can't find any images online.
