Re: Bassett Creek Valley Redevelopment

Is it possible all that surface parking could just be something of land banking for future redevelopment?

Another development in the Bassett’s Creek Valley on Curie Ave.

Lotta parking, I guess it’s a high water table from the near creek.

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics

The stretch from the Shoreham through the Parkway campus had a bit of car-centric commercial. Saint Louis Park had zero care about keeping any retail on the side of the highway with the hundreds of apartments popping up within walking distance of the West Lake LRT station. Maybe a stoplight at 25 an...

11 stories is a change from the last update I posted over in the Parkway thread. I think that was 5 back in the spring.

There is a public feedback survey on the future of the Texa Tonka area. https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5253406/Texa-Tonka-Small-Area-Plan-Draft-Design-Recommendations-Survey?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery This has been shared out on Nextdoor where folks mad at apartments causing damage to s...

Re: E Line Arterial BRT

I’ll put in that a line going along France to the West Lake Station would make transit from Hopkins to Southdale worth considering. Maybe in the future a SWLRT to (whatever transit we get from West Lake to Uptown) to E-Line is faster than the 70-90 minutes a Hopkins to Southdale transit option is to...

Re: Eden Prairie - General Topics

I’m a skeptic that the five stations counting from the end on in, Opus, City West, Golden Triangle, EP Town Center, and Southwest will have anything like the urban form we see in classic streetcar nodes. That seems really dependent on planning and development that is long past and something that isn...

The land rush is going near the suburban SWLRT stations.

The Golden Triangle station area has an office plus a 40 acre site next to the LRT station sell for $28+M

RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

When I attend the many public meetings over the Via Sol/Via Luna P.L.A.C.E. proposals, they mentioned repeatedly that there are apparently well understood formulas for hotel chain for how many rooms require how much staff. They had to go into this because often some new resident would show up asking...

The speculative office will begin construction next week. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2019/10/02/ryan-excelsior-group-to-break-ground-on-spec-west.html It’s still remarkable how large that parking structure is going to be. Seems it is so much that it’s made for more spec office later.

Re: Regional Water Resources (Aquifers, Rivers, Lakes)

If people are able to afford the $30,000 repair bills from rising water tables, and flood insurance rates, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But if they start demanding the collective bail them out and not expect the rest of us to request some concessions, I don’t think this will get far.
