Re: Downtown Parking Facilities

Great long article on the future of parking downtown. https://www.minnpost.com/politics-policy/2017/11/why-future-minneapolis-parking-garages-may-not-include-parking I’d like a ban on new parking ramps in the core, day between Hennepin, Washington, 3rd or 4th Ave, and 10th St. But I’m glad there is ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

The 8th Avenue Artery project in Hopkins looks almost complete. Since returning to Minnesota at the end on October I’ve gone over to check on progress each weekend. This morning I spotted the barricades to the northbound car lane was cleared and drivable. The cycle track that fills the gap (finally ...

There’s a lot of river. This would block a sliver of it. And still leave the full skyline.

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars

That most people keep tons of their crap in cars is a big reason car ownership will be a major factor of cars for decades after self driving cars are the only type sold. I’ve made the prediction that self-driving vans will become the default choice for affordable housing in markets like the Bay Area...

Yeah, it’s a long walk. I saw the design for the trail from Excelsior Crossing to Blake was proposed to have significant lighting upgrades which would make late winter walking safer.

Still.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

The majority of drivers don’t see people riding bicycles, period. Even after the driver hit a cyclist, “oh I didn’t see you!” But drivers that do look and keep mental track of people riding bicycles in lanes, considering the space efficiency of bikes, won’t consider bike lanes equivalent to car lane...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I don’t doubt there could be tweaks. Seeing how long absolutely everything takes to be tweaked, issues around these lanes are not unique. City process has semi judicial bureaucracy that slows everything to a crawl. Nearly all public criticism isn’t “let’s tweak things”, it’s more “get rid of them an...
