Re: Uptown Retail News

Serendipity Road has closed and transitioned to online only, which makes me sad since I LOVE the store. According to the below facebook event, "Serendipity Road will be transitioning online for 2015 to make room for a brand new business in our retail space." I wonder if the new retail is a...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

Things in uptown don't stay vacant for long do they? Boneyard went straight to salsa a la salsa, spill the wine went right into a new thing, I guess the only one that needs to be picked up now is Bar Abiliene Also Cause, Falafel King, Tatters, New restaurant space at Lime. Granted those are all Lyn...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Steele was present at our bagel Friday event that we have every week for Capella and I took some information from them. The membership seems pretty reasonable at $40 a month which includes unlimited access to group fitness programming. It looks like their personal training is $99 a session, but they...

I wouldn't be surprised if Allina left their current location and expanded down the block. Definitely more visible than they currently are.

Many of the new stores seem to be just a little different. Here are a few from around the country.

I think this building has been in the process of being renovated for quite some time now.

Re: Apartment Construction Boom (2011-??)

What's funny about this is, I remember being a very young Urbanist (18 and living in Wisconsin) and had a friend who lived in Seattle who would tell me that he would go downstairs to the store to pick something up. I thought it was SO cool that he had a convenience store in his building and couldn't...

I walk by this every day and honestly thought it was already closed. I've never seen it open and it just looks dirty inside.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington

My family was in town and I ate there for the first time ever a few weeks ago. The food wasn't spectacular but the ambiance is kind of cool. I actually made a comment that day that I wondered how they stayed open. I did go salsa dancing there at one point, they would stay open well past mall close f...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington

I guess I don't understand why we expect to be dropped off at the most central location, when the point of going to the mall is to walk around to different stores. Surely, no matter where the transit center is, it's going to be a trek for SOMEONE to get where they are going. It's the same concept th...

Will be glad when summer comes and the Promenade will extend from Aldrich to Girard.
Would be really great if they could connect it directly to Hennepin. Damn parking lots in the way though!

It's Stanton, so I wouldn't doubt it. He's got a pile of cash burning a hole in his pocket, and the only thing he knows to do with it is build condos.

Re: Third Wave Coffee Shops

Since we're having this conversation. Does anyone else find it odd they are opening a "full service" location just upstairs from the first floor one? Seems odd to me. Also, what could they offer upstairs that isn't currently being offered on the first floor? From what I can tell, they pret...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

I didn't see the sign for myself, but apparently Jackson's at Lake and Bryant is closing on the 15th. My roommate said he was in there for coffee last weekend and noticed the sign. Can anyone confirm that? According to their Twitter, new ownership as of the 15th, they are closing on the 12th. No wor...

I don't know why I thought this was going to be a really beautiful building form one of the original renderings, but man, what a disappointment. I agree though, good to have it filled in for sure.
