Re: Dinkytown

That lone house on 13th Avenue is under different ownership. Figure they really need to acquire that property to make this pencil out.

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars

You guys saw that this was just running between Hennepin and Lyndale, right? It's not a real service. It's just a little demonstration project.

Re: Gaviidae Common / Downtown YMCA

Thrivent is only four blocks from Gaviidae, and the new MPLS office building is even closer. Seems like you'd want to be further away than that. Is there leasable space left in one of the Wells Fargo towers? Or the Ironclad?

Re: Condo Rental Caps: Economics and Equity

I'll echo what's been noted above -- when we were looking at condos, the ones that didn't allow rentals seemed notably less expensive. It's sort of a "last one in raise the drawbridge" mentality, and it can potentially cause real hardship for existing owners who, for unforseen reasons, need to start...

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars

There was a big push back around 1999 or so to put buses in the trench, but the MGC rallied to kill that idea.

Re: C Line - Arterial Rapid Bus & Penn Ave Community Works Project

Given unlimited resources, maybe some of these extensions make sense. But if you refer to this map (and take it with a grain of salt), you'll see that not all areas merit beefed up transit. We've talked about the perils of long routes before -- delays rippling through the system, more complicated ro...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

They could issue bonds tomorrow. There's pretty easy math for how much you can bond, given a set source of funding. And of course, the funding should increase with property value inflation.

I think it's the uncertainty of the federal funding sources that's holding things back now.

Re: MSP Airport

These figures (from the MSP wikipedia page) demonstrate how radically the aircraft types have shifted over the last 15 years. Compare 2005 (just before Northewest filed for bankruptcy) with the 2017 numbers. Roughly the same number of passengers with 25% fewer aircraft. Passengers Aircraft Movements...

Re: Woman's Club of Minneapolis Parking Lot (344-410 Oak Grove)

I've thought about this before, but a long staircase in perpetual shadow in a winter climate probably falls into the category of attractive nuisance.

Oh man, I miss me some Tommy Rukavina.

I think Tony Sertich could be a good candidate. Larson runs strong in Duluth, probably terribly in the rest of the district.
