Get rid of the Park Board. Problem solved.

Yikes.

Well, it was a legit deluge, so probably lots of places had issues.

Yep, agree that this is the best approach. The only downside to this is that it will complicate layovers, etc.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

One issue, maybe, with some of these spaces is that it's difficult for them to have much of a street presence, given the limitations of the historical buildings they're in, and the fact that they're often sharing common entrances to the buildings. Maybe?

Yes, I remember Pawlenty would regularly line-item DFL passed bonding bills. Obviously, the dynamic here is different.

Re: 2017-18 MN Legislative Session & Budget - Battle for the Senate Majority?

Looks like Minneapolis got $1m for some immediate Stone Arch Bridge investigation and maintenance, and $15m for Upper Harbor redevelopment.

Dayton has not announced if he'll sign or not, but I guess I'd expect he'll support it.

While it would be sad, the trees are definitely going to be under warranty and would be replaced by the contractor.

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's

51k daily skyway trips vs 20k pedestrians on Nicollet mall ...sigh... The math on this seems a little sketchy. Based on the slide, it really seems like the comparable figure should be the 15,100 people noted in the City Center skyway (or maybe a slightly busier USBancorp skyway). The 51k figure mus...

Wasn't there speculation based on the early leaked plans that the Pinstripes that had been proposed for the Guthrie ramp liner parcel might end up here?

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

I think it would be a stretch to spend this money on aBRT. Wastewater treatment seems a little more feasible. Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF): In 1988, 77% of Minnesota voters approved a constitutional amendment establishing the ENRTF (Article XI, Sec. 14) - a constitutionally d...

Definitely. Kind of surprised that Wall hasn't sold them to Surly yet -- I can't imagine that the parcel is particularly useful for redevelopment.

And do you think that elected politicians will interpet that policy to mean that they should eliminate automobile traffic from Hennepin Avenue?

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)

Presumably, it's the pinch points at the stations that preclude bike lanes in the layouts. Where there aren't stations, there's extra space that could be used for parking, or could be used for extra pedestrian space, but since it's not continuous would be of little use for bike facilities.

Is there a reason why we're already assuming a loss on fighting for both and having the parking removed instead?
Well, if we're using Matt's layout as the starting point, it already assumes losing parking in most locations. That's really not the trade-off.

If memory serves, the Eclipse project was also a more complicated partnership than the rest of Stanton's projects. He never owned the land -- pretty sure the 21st Century Bank still controls the site.

Heard a rumor that a Filipino restaurant will be taking over the old coffee shop space at 43rd and Nicollet.
Any more details with this? Could be a great addition to the neighborhood.
