From 2010 to 2018: Carver, Scott and Hennepin grew faster than the 7-county average, Washington grew at the same rate, and Ramsey, Dakota and Anoka grew slower than the average. Growth rate is in the order listed. From 2017 to 2018: Carver, Washington and Scott grew faster than the 7-county average,...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

It is so wide! Cars treat it like a 4-lane road, because it is effectively a 4-lane road, just without any striping. Drivers pass left-turning vehicles on the right constantly.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

The lobby is cool! I swung in there last week trying to find the Spyhouse that was very prominently advertised on the front, which wasn't open yet, and I was impressed by the space.

Even still, you'd have to tear down at least 6 businesses plus Higher Ground Academy, the National Khmer Legacy Museum, multiple fields at Concordia (and maybe even Sea Foam Stadium) and a few houses for the bridge over the tracks. That's just a real tight geometry in general, going under Hamline, o...

They must use GPS data, or some non-schedule data, because I've certainly seen non-schedule data on the screens, and when texting NexTrip.

Also, pretty gross that Eric Dayton gave his "full support" to this project, despite his store's whole shtick about Keeping the North Cold.

But he has even admitted that he could not afford his current lifestyle without the income coming from his website, so he isn't really financially independent in any way that someone else could replicate.

His whole schtick is shaming people who weren't able to follow his improbable career path. The man made something like $300k annually for 10 years, then "retired" and parlayed his moderate frugality into a highly successful blog/personality cult (his own words) that earned him 6 figures. The idea th...

If we are going to have a speed limit for bikes on city streets, 10 mph is an absurd choice for it. It would have to more reasonably be 20 mph or so.

Nice Ride and Lyft will roll out electric bikes this spring. 500 at first, with 1,300 more to come later. Lyft cited studies that in the 3 other cities they have rolled out e-bikes, the e-bikes get twice as much usage as pedal bikes. http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/transportation/2019/02/nice-r...

I don't care about the sign itself. I do care that RBC has known about this for years and never made a peep until the last minute when they could hold the city hostage.

The decision has been to made to keep the proposed stops at 48th & Chicago on the southwest and northeast corners. There will be no stop in front of HealthPartners, as some had suggested.

The funny thing is, many of those same points can be applied to this forum, to greater or lesser degree. I mean, not really. Of the 7 points they listed, only two really apply to this forum: - It's a bubble that effectively pushes out a lot of opposing voices. This is true, and deserves to be worke...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Just makes me wonder...what is it about downtown that makes them more prevalent there vs. the rest of the city? There are 160,000 workers there for lunchtime. I figured someone who say this. But there are also 400,000+ people in Minneapolis. Plenty of folks need lunch on weekdays not downtown, not ...

A medium one: When I see pneumatic tubes counting bikes, I ride back and forth over them ALOT on purpose....once about 10x over an hour. Especially if it is bad weather. I don't want low numbers to justify disinvestment. A bad one: I simultaneously believe that the city is for everyone and that pan...
