Re: Grocery Stores

Their website says that 10 stores are also franchised, but not by Jerry's. They are the ones in Alexandria, Baxter, Brainerd, Buffalo, Coon Rapids, Grand Rapids, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Shakopee and White Bear Lake.

Re: Bike Share

If people don't park in the current stations, they just keep getting charged. They have your credit card information. I imagine it would be the same with the virtual ones.

Re: Avenues- Replace Numbers With Names

TBH, opening this can of worms under the current political environment would probably mean that it could not possibly be named after any white man in history. I don't have a specific problem with that, just predicting that's where the public conversation would lead. Probably best to stick with tree...

Minneapolis has an exclusive contract with Nice Ride through Aug 1, 2021, as I read it. Though I am not a contract lawyer, or even someone who knows anything about it. https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/Download/File/1044/Contract%20with%20Nice%20Ride%20REVISED%20RCA.pdf Some noteworthy pieces from the ...

The worst is the Wells Fargo Operations Center. If that thing could get razed, I'd be delighted.

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image

Not a surprise there. US Bank is the 7th largest bank by assets, and 4 of the top 6 are HQed in New York. We don't have any other in the top 50, so it's pretty much just US Bank doing all the work on that front.

But I also don't see that fact anywhere in the linked article.

Re: U.S. Highway 52

lol at "ideation" in the article. Our director at work used that buzzword the other day and we're all like, "What the hell does that even mean?" The word is actually quite old and was regularly used, but only in the context of suicidal ideation. So it's a weird and dark one to try to turn into a ne...

Re: Bike Share

Nice Ride will now be operated by Motivate. Some big changes: They plan to add 1,500 bikes to the system this summer. The new bikes will be dockless, with 500 parking zones for them. New lower price for single rides of $2 at a kiosk and $1 on their app. (formerly $3) Usage fees will also be lowered ...

It says the 11th St Bikeway will be replacing the bollards with an actual curb this summer. Was that known? Are there visuals of that?

5 retail bays, including three under 1,000 sq. ft. That will be a nice addition on that stretch.

Yeah, fair. But there are also like 2 blocks x 7 blocks of houses total between Bloomington and 28th Ave south of 46th. So there's not a lot of people to serve.

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

There is way lower density (jobs+population) on Cedar than on Nicollet. And the parts of Cedar with a high density are north of Lake, which are between 0-6 blocks of the light rail. South of Lake Nicollet is still much denser than Cedar, and south of 42nd the density on Cedar falls off a cliff. 15 m...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

For cars going north on 35W heading to west 94, are they going to be able to weave all the way over to the Lyndale/Hennepin exit? If so, that seems like it'll be a mess. But maybe that is a smaller percentage of traffic than I think. I also didn't realize there would be an offramp from 35W North to ...

Re: 200 Central - Alatus Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site) 483' / 40 Stories

Is there something behind the scenes here? This is some vindictive stuff, which makes it seem like they have a particular reason to spite Alatus, or whoever. They know they can't win, and yet they continue to throw a lot of money at it just to temporarily delay and add cost to the project.

Re: U.S. Highway 169

I was speaking of the segment from 62 to downtown. It is mixed traffic, but they have center stations. Downtown they'll share the road with all of the other buses, which really slows things down in the afternoon in combination with the lights. And to Silophant, if the MNPass lanes keep working as th...

Re: U.S. Highway 169

The Orange Line will be LRT on rubber tires for about 6 miles, with 2 stops along that section. Not nothing (that is the length of Midtown LRT if it went from River to West Lake), but not that great either (imagine if Midtown only had two stops, at Lyndale and Hiawatha, and bicycles could use the la...

Re: Nicollet Mall

The downside is it conditions people to just cross at a red light, because it is obvious no one else is moving (plus there is only one lane of car traffic in one direction).
