Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

It's hard defending the 48-minute end-to-end trip to people when my shorter jaunt today from Central to West Bank lasted 45 minutes on its own. Hopefully that won't become the norm.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

With respect to Washington Avenue, the train taking up one lane in each direction on the Washington Avenue Bridge would have already changed its use as a major thoroughfare for cars. The original vision with the LRT tunnel was to calm the street down to one lane in each direction plus a turning lane...

Re: Interstate 94

Well, maybe giving extra lanes for 2 miles will at least temporarily quiet those advocating for extra lanes all the way to St. Cloud....

Re: 5th & 6th Streets in downtown Saint Paul

My apartment faces 6th Street between Jackson and Sibley. It's ridiculous how underused 6th Street is in this stretch. It might actually serve automobile traffic at rush hours, but the majority of the day it sits empty or nearly so. And yet we have no east-west bike lanes in downtown St. Paul. I thi...

Re: Green Line (Central)

I've been wondering why they project 10th Street to have higher ridership than Central. Central's in the heart of downtown, the closest stop to the Xcel Center and the Ordway, and is getting a skyway connection.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

^^Thanks for that helpful information. In a perfect world, a Hennepin tunnel would be my ideal alignment. It seems that if Lyndale at-grade were possible--if flawed--a Hennepin tunnel should have been able to begin south of and thus not disrupting the Lowry Hill Tunnel, just by veering off of where ...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)

This is going to make such a difference in the first impressions of a lot of people riding the light rail into downtown. I remember using the Nicollet Mall station last year to get to the airport and noticing that the signature stop on the Hiawatha Line was next to an empty surface parking lot. Not ...

Re: Beg Buttons

I've noticed a lot of intersections with the newer beg buttons that will change to a "walk" signal even without pressing the button. I believe the ones near the new St Paul Central LRT station are like this. Not sure what the point of the button is in this case, unless it's solely for thos...

Re: University Recreation & Wellness Center Expansion

Apparently we are one of the cheapest Big Ten schools for out-of-state students, but one of the most expensive when it comes to in-state tuition rates. This is a change made in the past five years. The U decided they wanted to recruit more out-of-state students, so they lowered their tuition rate d...
