Re: New City of Minneapolis Office Building

It may be 99.9% parking, but it is a Minneapolis Mixed Use Parking Ramp! That means it has a bail bond office tucked into one corner of the ground level.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Uh, plenty of room for middle ground here. I am thankful for our independent park board more than not. But I also think MPRB should not have responsibility for policing or streets/parkways.

Re: MSP Airport

Funny other thing - there were other ramps at MSP Terminal 1 which came and went very fast. Built in the early 80s and torn down in the late 90s or early 00s.

Yeah, and in my dream world all Amazon would want would be some site assembly assistance and a restart of Riverview as light rail to the airport.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?

DT St. Paul seems like the hands-down winner to me since they could basically mesh their HQ on top of the existing infrastructure and building stock.

and the long term usage of it for rail traffic
Isn't this why advocates have pivoted to buying the remaining handful of industries who use the rail on the Minneapolis side of the bridge? No rail customers = no trains = good chance for Greenway Extension.

Re: Fantasy maps

Yes, I've suggested similar ideas before even for express buses heading from East Metro to St. Paul - We should have a designation for buses that go express from DT to DT (and should only charge a local fare for that segment) and interline existing express buses to Mpls via St. Paul and vice versa. ...

Re: Zoning in Minneapolis

Class III materials should be allowed on any building face that doesn't front a public street or sidewalk. It's ridiculous how much CPC and staff have concerned themselves with materials on narrow side yards and whatnot. Hello, your ridiculous concern comes at the expense of people having housing.

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots

My Thrivent contacts tell me they want less space, not more. Back in the day, they had people in 701 - that's now a Hennepin County building too, right? Then they consolidated back at 625, and there was plenty of room when I was there on a project 7 years ago. They aren't growing that much, and they...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

For both of those projects: Considering they are building underground parking, it's sort of a shame the underground parking doesn't extend under nearby surface lots. Economies of scale suggest it would be far easier to build parking under those lots now rather than with some future tiny development....

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

It seems like the real bus capacity solution for downtown would be moving more buses (express buses or routes that terminate downtown) to east-west corridors, since the capacity crunch is on north-south corridors. There is no reason why buses coming in on 394 or 94 from the north or west should use ...
