Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Submitted this: Members and staff of the Transportation Committee and TAB and representatives of the Cedar Ave corridor, First, thank you for the work you are doing to plan the future of our transit network. I am enthusiastic about this work, particularly the benefit of increasing Arterial BRT corri...

Re: South Nicollet Ave - Lake to Crosstown (Lyndale-Kingfield-Tangletown-Windom)

Looks like a project may be brewing on the SW corner of Nicollet and 43rd (kitty-corner from Revival). Midwest Cycle supply closed last year and Roadrunner Records just announced a move down the street (to 4534 Nicollet), the latter citing "they learned last year that their landlord planned to sell...

I hear there may be more updates about this project within the next couple months, but I don't know the nature of the updates. Anyone else hearing new things about this streetcar plan?

But I guess when you pay a consultant 50 grand or whatever, they aren't going to suggest calling something what it's already called (even if informally).

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

While it's not as egregious as 21st St Station, the area of Bryn Mawr near Penn Ave Station is very underzoned in 2040 as well. Unsurprisingly, another area represented by CM Goodman. The Penn corridor is interior 3 and everything else is interior 2. Single family homes a few hundred feet from the P...

Smart people studied putting LRT on Broadway. There's a good reason that it was dismissed as on option.
Are those the same smart people that got us a mile-long $160 million tunnel along Southwest LRT so that freight trains can operate above light rail trains?

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

I do actually agree that at-grade LRT on Penn or Broadway would probably be bad. Broadway could be at-grade on the stroady part until North Memorial / Victory Parkway, but then ideally it could head underground. An underground section from where Broadway de-stroads just east of Victory to where 7th ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

And the magical thinking that you can have a 10' drive lane smacked right up against the curb without accounting for the gutter and snow storage is a streets.mn classic. (Not that it was a good thing) This was permissible all over the city when engineers wanted to cram in Four Lane Death Roads all ...

Cedar Inn at 42nd St will be temporarily closed beginning Feb 1 for a light refresh. New owners, but supposedly the name and the menu will be remaining.

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

IMO there should be something like 3-4 trains PDEW CHI-MSP in addition to the Empire Builder. If the eastbound EB is on time, it lashes up with the regional train. If not, it lashes up with the next train and so on.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Possibly incorrect list of Non-Freeway roads that got grade separated crossings from existing Green Line: 1. 3rd st and 4th st (the second crossing) downtown. 2. Cedar Ave and 19th Ave for west bank station. 3. Cedar St near the Capitol (may have already been there?) All three of those grade separa...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings

Aren't there multiple rail businesses on this spur? The canning plant in Montgomery, and a railcar business south of Jordan? Sad to see U.P. not care about this. Maybe Progressive Rail would have some interest, particularly if they could connect it to their Richfield spur (part of the old Dan Patch)...
