Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

IMO there should be something like 3-4 trains PDEW CHI-MSP in addition to the Empire Builder. If the eastbound EB is on time, it lashes up with the regional train. If not, it lashes up with the next train and so on.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Possibly incorrect list of Non-Freeway roads that got grade separated crossings from existing Green Line: 1. 3rd st and 4th st (the second crossing) downtown. 2. Cedar Ave and 19th Ave for west bank station. 3. Cedar St near the Capitol (may have already been there?) All three of those grade separa...

A Diner of the Uptown Diner variety would be good here.
How does that differ from Band Box a few blocks away?

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings

Aren't there multiple rail businesses on this spur? The canning plant in Montgomery, and a railcar business south of Jordan? Sad to see U.P. not care about this. Maybe Progressive Rail would have some interest, particularly if they could connect it to their Richfield spur (part of the old Dan Patch)...

1. Turn back Central to the City or County.
2. Make it three lanes rather than five (paint some lanes red for buses, or whatever).
Easy.

Re: Elliot Park

Speaking of the county making investments that in Elliot Park that are not necessarily for Elliot Park... What ever happened to that Parkside medical tower that overlooks the park? At one point, there was a plan to convert many of the floors into market-rate apartments. Later on, there was a Mike Op...

Re: Elliot Park

Am I the only one wondering what else happened behind the scenes to end up with this result? Seems like a complex issue, but Elliot Park seems to get dogged with more than their share of large institutions, supportive housing, etc. Yes, the facility is opening up, but I can't imagine hundreds of bed...

That's a lot of money to spend planning two developments that never move forward. Sunk costs and all, but wow.

Re: Fantasy maps

Since we're in fantasy mode... What if we extended Southwest LRT via existing HCRRA/MnDOT rights-of-way (mostly the old railroad grade to Chaska) with split service to Downtown Chaska and Downtown Shakopee? Those two downtowns are two of the seven county seats in our metro area, and they could relat...

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit

MidtownConnection.jpg If we do end up building the Midtown Corridor LRT/streetcar, I don't think it would be that complicated to connect it to the existing Blue Line viaduct and Lake Street station. I came up with this concept nearly a decade ago: https://drive.google.com/open?id=19D2XlzAaFobvMoeft...

What if there could be some sort of vertical circulation access/easement in Building D from the Lake Street overpass down to the platform level?

This is so good. My only qualm with the preferred alternative map is that it doesn't show a future connection with the C Line at Cedar.

They're still in the appeal window, but I can't imagine they'd have any chance of success at that.
