Re: Rochester

Mayo wants to use an old Kmart as a huge park & ride in the middle of a moderately dense, walkable, good neighborhood on the extreme edge of downtown, requiring miles of urban driving for most motorists to take advantage of it. https://www.medcitybeat.com/news-blog/2019/mayo-clinic-employee-parking-...

Route the 6 up Xerxes, then west of Bde Maka Ska via West Lake Station and Uptown Transit Station like this https://goo.gl/maps/LdrByqo3yBcL1aJX6 Provides additional benefits vs keeping the route east of Bde Maka Ska colocated with the E Line: - 1/2 mi walk to West End - Allows for Southdale/Xerxes...

Re: Sibley Plaza Redevelopment [on hold]

Has there been a site plan published for Sibley Plaza and the Aldi? Seems like there should be plenty of space to build some new housing or mixed use similar to what is happening in front of the Minnehaha Ave Aldi.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail

Right? It seems so odd that these farmers are upset about losing access to 52 when... they're already losing access to 52. The long-term vision is a full acess-controlled freeway on the corridor, and they're probably about halfway there between adding interchanges (no more stoplights south of Eagan!...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

Wasn't the special valet ramp from the porte cochere to the underground parking originally denied by the Planning Commission? It looks like they're back to ask for that? Or was it appealed before? Anyways, really a shame there's not more retail on the Henn/Wash corner - or anywhere else for that mat...

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail

52 would work... if they also did major earthworks for the full right-of-way, and/or if they are comfortable with lengthy viaducts. For example, the Vermillion Valley would make sense for a higher viaduct for the freeway AND rail over the river and County 62: https://goo.gl/maps/1pxrxchDmtPGNU539 Th...

This reminds me of how Richfield dreams about demolishing all the affordable storefront space on Penn near 66th.

Re: Alia Tower - 200 Central - 483' / 40 Stories

It will be interesting to see if Alatus comes back with a project that's designed to hit more of those lower price points, and to see how dumbed down the design needs to be to achieve that. Wouldn't be the worst outcome to see the unit count jump from 214 to 350+ (smaller units! more neighbors)... ...

Re: Richfield - General Topics - 66th Street

While this project looks great in many ways, it's unfortunate to see this corner go from probably a dozen storefronts down to a single restaurant space.

Re: Nicollet 301 - 20 stories - 241'

I'm really disappointed with how Marquette keeps getting shafted by some of these projects. Nic on 5th put a Starbucks on their Marquette corner (which is great) but Opus has done nothing on their block. Even the upper parking podium levels aren't screened like 3rd and Nicollet.

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Development & RR Corridor/MinHi Line

I would almost be more inclined to support a right-in from northbound Hiawatha AND a median blocking left turns to/from eastbound 42nd. Even though that would add a second curb cut to the site, I bet it would reduce chaotic interactions from a traffic management standpoint.

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Development & RR Corridor/MinHi Line

Gotta say, considering this is a Starbucks drive through, it's not too bad. Fully screened from Hiawatha, the drive-through mess fully on the site property, one curb cut on 42nd. Seems fine.

Re: Fullertown Flats - 4736 Grand Ave

I remember commenting with quite a few addresses where old streetcar corner buildings were downzoned to Urban Neighborhood / Interior 1, such as 48th and 4th. Still, more were missed.

Regarding 48th and Grand, it doesn't have 18G buses, but does have a U and Downtown Ltd Stop bus during rush hours.

I was just thinking about how much I love the design of Brunsfield, and they did that one too right? If/when I do a three story walkup, I want to try and scale down something like that design.

If I was the Sheridan association, I'd be doing an access management study on 13th St NE. It runs parallel and close to Broadway. Does it really need traffic in both directions? What if 13th St NE was one lane one way on certain blocks where parking is required, and possibly even no traffic on a blo...

Does Walmart retain a lease on this property?
