Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

And the Gold Line and Rush Line are probably significantly more expensive than the Red Line was (and obviously more expensive than Arterial BRT). Not to mention something like half of the Red Line capital funding involved using transit dollars to reconstruct/widen a highway for cars through Dakota C...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Considering how AMAZING the A-Line has done, and how AWFUL the Red Line has done, why would we bother building more highway BRT when we still have Arterial BRT opportunities?

Re: 2019-2020 MN Legislative Session / Budget / Bonding

I'm not sure I want to support a gas tax increase if it goes towards an increase in road money. It should only be used to offset the cross-subsidy of roads from the general fund and other roadbuilding slush funds.

Re: 2019-2020 MN Legislative Session / Budget / Bonding

Here's a crazy idea.... Why don't we just apply the regular state sales tax to gasoline, in addition to the "user fee" that is the gas tax?

I wonder if those chamfered corners were actually an attempt to allow light to cut the corner and prevent shadowing, but clearly they don't work.

Well done with the thread name change, since I was channeling my inner Tuthill to refuse this as Uptown.

Re: 2019-2020 MN Legislative Session / Budget / Bonding

I was shocked to read in the Strib comments (yea, I know) that some families drive 20k, 40k, 50k+ miles per year or more. That's just... ridiculous in so many ways, gas tax aside. Re: the gas tax. Before the most recent phased increase, it had last been bumped to $0.20 in 1988 where it sat for two d...

Oooh, Oberpiller is planning a 46 unit building with a small main floor corner restaurant space on the parking lot next to (what used to be) Dulonos. http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 217161.pdf

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

But the current MN constitution prevents this hypothetical revenue from going to transit, right? Despite that, there are workarounds if there's political will... right now the general fund and other tax sources cross-subsidize our driving infrastructure, so new gas tax revenue could free up existing...

True, and I've long wondered if money spent on infill stations at 26th St or 42nd St would provide far more ROI.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

Also, the massive 28th Ave Station parking garage was *NOT* built with the original Blue Line. It was originally a smaller surface lot. The garage was built about five years later.

Re: Bemidji

Yeah the entire corridor from the 71 bypass intersection to Bemidji Ave is less than two miles and has less than 15,000 vehicles per day. A three lane profile would even work fine. Access management is the clear issue here, which is why the full median + RIRO + roundabouts concept seems like such a ...

Re: Bemidji

So this has less than 15,000 vehicles per day. It's clear lanes are no the problem, over-access is the problem. I've always wondered why we don't see more stroad repairs where there's roundabouts or similar treatments every half mile-ish, and then full medians between each one to force right-in-righ...

Re: 614... Why does it not continue to downtown Excelsior? Does downtown Excelsior have all-day regular-route transit? Seems worthy of that. Re: 542/540...
