Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?

I see Minneapolis bid for the 1932 winter games... Any idea what we would have done for alpine events? Without that hole, it seems Minneapolis would be a good winter host with multiple hockey arenas and stadiums. - US Bank Stadium as the Olympic Stadium, possibly also an oval for longer speed skatin...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Yes! Mid-block pedestrian crossings are a great idea. Even better if it includes a refuge island that can also create sort of a boundary for motorists that they are entering a particularly urban node. But I imagine businesses would freak about parking impacts. Business concern about parking impacts ...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

Of course another funding stream is the new (or at least agreed upon) 20 year Parks and Streets tax increase, producing $800 million over the next 20 years. If we took even 10% of that for urban transit improvements in Minneapolis and offered it as a 50% match for any county and/or state dollars for...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Arterial Rapid Bus

I'm not sure why we focus on separating one long slow route into two shorter slow routes, when instead we could spend some money on dedicated lanes and other transit advantage so we can do one long fast route with less. I wonder how much bus time, fuel, and driver salary are wasted on buses stuck in...

Re: High Speed Rail MSP to Rochester

Funny thing is, just about a century ago we had an electrified passenger railway between St. Paul and Hastings that was on the verge of extending to Zumbrota and negotiating for rights to electrify and use tracks between Zumbrota and Rochester: https://www.rchs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/RCHS_Fa...

Re: High Speed Rail MSP to Rochester

Seems like you could use ex-CGW railbed from SPUD to somewhere near Hampton, then use the 52 median through the sparsest section from Hampton to Zumbrota, then pick up the old grade of the other CGW line that once ran from Red Wing to Rochester via Zumbrota (now the Douglas Trail). That would be a r...

Anyone know when HCMC built a new helipad on the main building near the red entrance, and stopped using the top of their big parking ramp across Park?

As these periphery neighborhoods take off like North Loop, Mill District, Elliot Park, Loring Park, near Northeast... We need to consider some sort of improved connectivity and circulation. The D line will have stations at 7th/8th and Park (still think they should consolidate both directions onto on...

Anyone know if there's provision for future skyways along the two Ameriprise buildings along 3rd Ave S? This, along with some sort of Century Plaza development, seems like it would be good to have a path north to Accenture/Hennepin County/ Thrivent. Not that I support skyway expansion, of course.

Only possible with the stadium.
True. So let's tear this one down and build a new one so we can get another Super Bowl in 5 years.
