Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

Completely eliminating 2nd Ave S including sidewalk between 28th St and Lake St. Of course, this also includes the desire-path up the 28th St bridge abutment, which was a shortcut to avoid the severe jog in the actual sidewalk (meaning this area has already been walk-hostile, but it's getting worse)...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

They are also permanently removing local sidewalks as part of this project. This project is a huge loss for non-motorized travel and neighborhood connectivity.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I've been on those buses in Hong Kong. I can't say I ever really noticed the ceiling height on the second floor. However, I'm 5'10" a far cry from your 6'4" . Anyway, I'd be thrilled if Metro Transit could roll them out. They're much better than bendy buses. Oooh that reminds me of the bus to...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

If you're running DMUs rather than LRVs, it would make far more sense to run north and turn on the BNSF rather than turn onto the TC&W/ex-Milwaukee Road. This was the actual spot that was known as the "iron triangle" in early SWLRT freight reroute planning, and it has a grade that was previously use...

Re: Rochester

It would also be wise to capture the spur ROW south of Hwy 14 (12th St SE) for transit right of way... Eventually part of a north-south spine connecting the growing Hwy 52 corridor to the northwest with the Hwy 63 corridor to RST airport in the south. Some Rochester Pantasy Maps I've made over the l...

Should fit in much better once the different materials are up. It breaks up the monotony quite a bit and makes it feel like a number of smaller buildings.

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots

Their employees currently pay $0 per year to park. There's a lot of room between $0 and $3600. $0 is not the market clearing price of parking downtown.

Housing discrimination complaint from Lowry Grove mobile home park dismissed.
The complaint dealt with the much-debated sale of St. Anthony's only mobile home park, which recently closed. http://www.startribune.com/lowry-grove- ... 434284013/

Thrivent employees are telling me the new parking capacity here is to replace the parking capacity which will be lost on the block east of 5th Ave S when that is developed.

To be fair, the Thrivent tower's east face is *mostly a blank wall* because it was *designed for a tower to snug up against it.* https://goo.gl/maps/urLM2krPBG42

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I was still frustrated by the 8th St plans here, for a "utility lane" type thing for buses. Yeah, how does that work on Hennepin? Seeing that 8th St doesn't connect to anything on the west end, and only connects to TH-55 on the east end of downtown, seems like this would be the perfect street for bu...

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots

Let's step back and think about this *with* a skyway: This parcel could be a hub for the DTE skyway network, already connecting 701/Accenture, Government Center/USBankPlaza, and the ramp-jail-ramp connection to the new WF buildings. It seems like this would be a place to build a more prominent skywa...

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation

A comment on the Thrivent thread made me remember how much of a lost opportunity it was that the City did not fix the eastern municipal ramp's ground presence before they swapped it for the private ramp on the western half of the block... I mean... a million or three to make the ground level not suc...

That a skyway may be extending toward HCMC is really exciting.
No.
