Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)

This was approved by the CPC tonight. Can't imagine how it doesn't get appealed, but it's a step.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

"Buildings of this size" being 2.5 story buildings with no more than 0.5 FAR, which are already allowed anywhere in the city? Those are the massing rules for R1 and R2, and the vast majority of those zones are proposed to be Interior 1, which has the exact same massing rules. The only difference is ...

Re: DTE: Wells Fargo, Radisson Red, Edition Apts & Millwright Building

Unlocked FC article about this lease and what it means for DTE office vacancy rates.

They throw a lot of numbers around, but I think the gist is that Millwright is the only Class A building in DTE?

Re: Bike Share

As far as the electricity costs go, looks like they've got a 355Wh battery, so a full charge would cost just under 4 cents for an Xcel - Minnesota customer. The payment is $5 per Bird, so if you can find a dozen or so pretty quickly, it's probably worthwhile. Looks like that's not necessarily easy, ...

The market rate building has its own underground garage. Not sure about the setup for the affordable building.

Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

Yeah, it would be nice if those 1BRs along 3rd were retail, or if that could be the lobby and there could be retail along Portland. There's apparently been some luck with commercial uses moving into streetfront Live/Work spaces in the North Loop, but I don't think that would fly with subsidized unit...

Re: The Expo - 215 2nd St SE (285' - 26 Stories)

I think there would be some level of neighborhood resistance, like we saw with the Expo, but probably not the extremely expensive losing legal battle we saw (are seeing?) with 200 Central. Also, a tower actually being under construction/built lessens the case for "another tower would ruin the neighb...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington

That's actually a state law, as I understand it, that no entity can own more than one liquor store in a given city. So, for example, the NE Lund's can't have a liquor store since the downtown one does, and the Quarry, Lake St, and various miniTargets will never get liquor stores, since the Downtown ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Yeah, the Depot shed is being enclosed and converted into event space. Better than parking, I guess... The Crossings actually has a little storefront space on Washington that's been occupied by the MEDA offices for forever (without ever opening their blinds), but they're moving, so I guess there's a...

Re: Thrivent Smith Lot - 5th Ave and 7th St - Micro Apartments and Diner

There aren't any pictures in the article, I'm afraid. I'm a little disappointed to see another 5+1 here, there seemed to be a trend of getting some decent height in this area. That being said, it gets rid of another parking lot, adds an eatery in the area, and includes a shocking number of units in ...

You mean where the bike path from the bridge dead-ends into a flight of stairs? Nope!

Does anyone have a link to anything about the solar panel project? I can't find anything in the MN Daily or on the UMN website.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Not specific retail news, but the Solhem people that presented the Grumpy's project to the DMNA last night mentioned that three (of the five?) walk-up live-work spaces in Borealis (along 8th) have in fact been rented for commerical use. Which makes me feel better about the live-work spaces we're sta...

Re: 800 Washington Ave S (Guthrie Ramp liner development: Reloaded)

Not that it'll necessarily be a deciding factor, but the DMNA will be extremely in the tank for the condo proposal. And, based just on reading your post, I think I agree. I'd like to see a bowling alley downtown, but I'm still holding out hope that Dayton's can land one (probably Pinstripes) for the...

There's apparently a presentation scheduled for the August DMNA Land Use Committee meeting. It was supposed to be tonight, but they moved it back a month because they're not done reviewing the proposals yet.

The Met Council is also an extremely intermittent customer for LRV deliveries, until SWLRT actually gets built. Though I suppose they can coordinate some sort of heavy haul setup from somewhere else when they need to.
