Looks like it'll be about 20' shorter than the Loews Hotel at MC².

Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 18-20 stories

The reason they gave to the LUC is that they're maximising the portion of the tower that won't be shaded by the Gateway Tower across the block in the mornings. I agree that it does look weird, and I'm not thrilled that both this building and the Wells Fargo redevelopment in Elliot Park are doing it.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

I believe the timeline was pushed back when the overall 35W construction project was pushed back. Doesn't really make sense to start running the fast buses when they won't be fast yet because they're going through a construction site.

Yeah, the crowdsourcing kinda rubs me the wrong way. Crowdsourcing start-up costs is one thing, but once you've got a profitable business up and running... just get a loan for your major capital (sort of) expense like anyone else, and pay it back from your increased profits.

Re: Washington and Portland Mixed Use - 22 stories

I was at the meeting on Monday. I wasn't in a position to get pictures, but the changes are relatively minor. The tower is going to get a little narrower towards the top, as the top three floors will be penthouse units with larger patios. Other than that, they're working with MPD and a different arc...

Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland

They could technically go across Park to the new HCMC building, which connects through the rest of the HCMC complex to the parking ramp, which will connect to the new Thrivent HQ, but I don't buy that HCMC would be on board with having people walk through like that.

Re: 240 Park Ave S - Zygi's Apartments

Ugh. Luckily, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that the CPC or Council would reject a 17 story building here, so it shouldn't be a big deal. On a less frustrating note from the meeting, the Garden Communities guy said that their financing isn't going to be dependent on a specific rent for the...

Re: 501 7th St S

He just mentioned it offhand after the meeting, so I don't know any details, but apparently it was a very short presentation, with the committee pretty bluntly saying that it wasn't good enough. No idea whether the concern is that it's ugly, that it's not dense enough, that it shouldn't have a surfa...

Re: 501 7th St S

These guys presented to the DMNA tonight. The rendering was the same as the CoW packet, but they've apparently changed the unit mix to include 1BR and 2BR units, for a total of 150. Also, one of the committee members went to the CoW meeting, and apparently they got pretty much laughed out of the roo...

There's a little Alchemy 365 sticker in the bottom corners of the windows on the 4th and Marquette corner. Could it be that businesses are finally realizing a couple thousand people have moved to this little area over the past five years?

They can be extended administratively, without an additional public process. That's how the City Club Apartments at 10th and Marquette abruptly rose from the dead about 2.5 years after it was approved.

Excavation has started. It's so nice to see a project that has their ducks in a row and can hit the ground running after city approval.

Re: 36th and Bryant Area

Yeah. It's understandable to not be happy about change. Forming an nonprofit to sue the city to attempt to prevent the construction of a building very similar in size to several nearby buildings, including one directly across the street is... too much.
