I'm starting to get concerned that this was a backup project in case 200 Central fell through, and now that that's moving along, this won't.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Sounds like no one from the Four Seasons has spent enough time using the skyway system to realize what a crappy connection that is. It's a looong way out of the way to go to get to anything besides parking ramps.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

I wasn't able to watch the meeting last night. What's up with the skyway? Why does the skyway to the Library that's literally always been the plan suddenly not work?

No way in hell are they going to be charging $1400 a month for a studio in a stick building in Midtown. A year ago, my rent was $1400 for a 1BR in a (older, but not that old) downtown high-rise.

Yeah. He's a technocrat who's very focused on and good at giant infrastructure projects, to the point of ignoring smaller, more effective infrastructure projects. Not great for a county commissioner, nearly perfect for the regional giant infrastructure authority.

Re: Hennepin County Commissioner Districts 2,3,4 (2018)

Looking at the Strib precinct level map, Maple Grove, Champlin, and Plymouth, which are the population center of District 7, mostly went for Walz over their local boy, which I'm betting was a factor in his near-instant retirement announcement. People definitely feel differently about state politics ...

Yep, people started moving in a month or so ago, according to the guy who told the Planning Commission that approval of Eleven should be delayed so more of his neighbors could move in and whine about their views.

Re: Fantasy maps

I doubt it, unless you're putting it like 80' up. The height limit can't be lower than however tall the park and ride ramp is.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

It may be too late in the development cycle for it to really matter, but I really want City Club to finish up, fill instantly, and provide an example of a parking-free DT tower for lenders to look at and realize is feasible.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Big night for downtown development news on this coming Tuesday: The CPC will have the public hearing and approval vote for: 501 7th St S (6-story apartment building on the last Thrivent lot) 8th St Apartments (16-story apartment building on the Wells Fargo branch site) 240 Hennepin (21-story apartme...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site

There's some indications that developers are rushing stuff through the approvals process that they don't intend to build just yet, so they can get out in front of the incoming IZ regulations.

North Bay Companies has three separate 50ish unit apartment buildings on next week's CPC agenda, for example.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site

No room - gotta have parking. You mean they would have to have additional parking for the store, or are you talking about the ramp and general? I meant they decided they needed parking on the ground floor instead of retail. It was sarcastic - I think it's a dumb decision. Hopefully the city kills t...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Even when the ground's frozen, it's not impossible to do excavation. It's just more expensive, since you have to melt the soil with heat blankets or similar. So, it's an added expense, which may or may not be more of an added expense than waiting until spring, once you've balanced it against crew av...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

They absolutely have to break ground by late spring at the latest - RBC has signed the lease for 2021, and they need a building to move into at that time. As for the streetcar, if (big if) it happens, it'll be at grade, cutting across the corner of the lot, so it doesn't have to take a 90° turn onto...

Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland - 18 stories - 279'

Their plan seems to be a bit misleading. The ground floor starts at 100 ft, so I am thinking this will actually be just 179 feet tall. Not sure why it is labeled like that. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk That's correct - they apparently do that so they don't have to use negative numbers for...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

I can't tell if it's being proposed in addition to the skyway to the library, or instead of the library connection. If it's both, then I'm for it for the simple selfish reason that it would be convenient for me.
