Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

Glad to see they're leaving their options open for future double-deckers.

On that note, whatever happened to the double-deckers SWT was piloting a few years ago?

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

I've thought for a while that extending it to 35W to connect with the D Line and the Orange Line/18/future Nicollet BRT) is a pretty obvious thing to do, but I'm not sure extending it west of there will make sense for a while. Even running it out to Opus would make more sense than the Arden Hills ex...

Update: There's a sign on the paybooth in the parking lot that says it closes permanently on May 7th.

It's happening!

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

As of last summer, they were saying they had to start in May 2019 to be ready for RBC to move in in 2021 - hence the office-only backup plan they pitched. I keep waiting to see the signs posted that the parking lot will be closing, but nothing yet. I guess if they don't sell monthly contracts they d...

Re: Old Spaghetti Factory to Pinstripes

They're still open as of tonight. Hopefully they can reopen - both 240 Park and 240 Portland will have a decent sized restaurant space on their respective corners. That being said, I've long thought it would be fun to have a bowling alley downtown. Would have preferred a cheaper one than Pinstripes,...

Re: Minneapolis Parking Meters

Yeah. Gonna be hard to convince a friend to come over and play a board game on a weekend afternoon if it'll cost $9 for him to park.

I mean, maybe this will convince him to bike instead, but I'm not confident.

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

I think they're too committed to the BRT brand to use normal buses on the A Line, but I don't see why they wouldn't use BRT artics for MNUFC games and State Fair days now that they have them.

Renters are bad. And condo owners are practically renters. Basically, anyone who's willing to settle for not having a quarter acre yard is suspicious.

Re: Allianz Field and Snelling-Midway Development

It's going to be a disaster. I remember a couple years ago when we noticed that (probably in this thread) and I was reasonably confident they would have some kind of plan. Maybe not the best plam, but something. Instead they did... nothing?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Since it's not going to get going until 2021, the 2040 plan rezoning should be in effect by the time this come up for approval, which includes a 10-story minimum height for the Core 50 downtown district. Not that I really expect the PC or the Council to not grant a variance to affordable housing tha...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

St. Olaf Catholic Church is working with Aeon to: A) rehabilitate the existing supportive housing building on 2nd Ave and 9th St, and add 27 additional units on a portion of the green space next to it. B) build a new 70-unit affordable housing building on the parking lot on the corner of 3rd Ave and...

Different neighborhoods, I guess, but the NE Lunds parking lot connects to one-way 4th St, which is pretty much the same thing, and they're doing fine.

Why does that show a car and an RV on Nicollet Mall?
They're just making sure their renderings reflect reality.

There's construction signage in the windows, and the back parking lot has been fenced off. This might finally be starting!?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

If anything, I think the extra cost of demoing an existing building makes redevelopment of such a site more likely to produce a significant building than redevelopment of an empty lot. And, fwiw, while this is the last parking lot on Nicollet (finally!) there's still plenty of available sites on Mar...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Wait, Opus is able to build something that doesn't include a half-block parking podium?

I really like the glassy one, but unless they've got a tenant in mind, there's no way they're building a new office tower two blocks from the soon to be half empty RBC Plaza.

They're working on the triplex change. Hopefully someone with a better knowledge of city workings than me can take a guess at how long it will take based on where it currently is in the process.

If I remember the renderings correctly you're right, there is a small portion next to the alley that is a single story. But all of the new retail square footage is along 8th under the tower. 3-4 walkup units on Park as shown in the plans must be staying.
Bizarre.
