Re: Southside - General Topics

There's a couple development proposals for Stevens Square . One is across Franklin from the Electric Fetus (currently a three-story building), and the other is at 18th and Nicollet, presumably the vacant lot between 18th and the freeway trench. It mentions that the 18th and Nicollet might need varia...

Good to hear that! Interesting that they're looking at office, with RBC vacating a dozen floors of RBC Plaza and four spec floors in the Gateway, but Opus presumably knows what they can get financed.

Re: Mill City Quarter - 300 South 2nd Street

A dog hotel is something I had never really thought of, but now am shocked that there wasn't already one downtown.

Re: Nicollet Mall

Yeah. The issue seems to be that the trains get a fairly long dedicated phase (which is good!), but it always happens in the sequence whether there's a train coming or not. Since even during rush hour there's only a train coming through every 2.5 minutes, there's a lot of wasted time there. Seems li...

Re: 365 Nicollet (334' - 30 stories)

Hard to say. I do hope it doesn't wind up being a twin tower - I'm not as down on this one's design as some here, but I don't want another one either. With Alatus and Ryan dipping their toes back into the downtown condo market (and UP dipping, like, a toenail), I wonder if Opus would get into that o...

In their defense, it hadn't started yet at 10:30. There were a hundred or so people there when I went by at 12:30.

Re: Apartment Construction Boom (2011-??)

The newish apartment building at 15th and Como is only three stories tall. I don't know if it's under construction yet, but a 3-story 16-unit building by 50th and France was approved by the CPC in April.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I could see the 15 going down to Lake and winding up at the Uptown Transit Center. Not sure what a good endpoint/layover spot would be for the north end of the 4, though. 8th & 10th in Marcy-Holmes?

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News

Yeah, having condiments at the tables and, I guess, cushioned chairs instead of hard booths should be doable. Additionally, since their standard business model already includes servers bringing customer's food out to their tables, it wouldn't be too hard to remove the garbage cans and have them bus ...

10th Ave Bridge is finally back on the official radar - down to one lane in each direction with a curb-seperated two-way bikeway to match the rest of the UMN protected bikeway project.

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's

Yeah, looks like they just summed up all the skyway traffic counts. Which means, since there's no destinations or even a street connection in Dayton's any more, they're not just double counting a lot of people, they're double counting everyone.

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's

The skyroom and lower-level food court in Macy's were always pretty busy. If it's good enough food, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Nowhere to point out that the signals straight-up don't work, though.
