Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp

.I'd say, in the short term, route 7 should serve Washington Ave (instead of 1st St - Hennepin - 4th St - 4/5th Aves zig-zag) straight-shot, offering (i) direct connection between two fast growing neighborhoods in downtown Mpls, and (ii) high-frequency service on Washington Ave in North Loop. As of...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

How easy is it to get from the suburbs to this part of the North Loop via public transportation? Depends on the suburb. Looks like a pretty good number of 394 and 212 express busses come to the North Loop after doing the Marq2 stops. I find it hard to believe that this ramp would fill up if they're...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Yep. My anecdotal experience with the porte cocheres (portes cochere?) at the Depot and Loews is that they get backed up enough to block the bike lane maybe 50% of the time in the afternoon/evening time frame. That sucks, but the porte-cochereless Hewing hotel blocks the bike lane more like 85% of t...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

If I'm remembering correctly, the reasoning behind last summer's kerfluffle, where UP out of nowhere came to the CoW with plans for an office-only tower, was because they absolutely must start construction in spring 2019 so they can be finished by the time RBC's lease starts in mid-2021, so they nee...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

I just can't get too mad at UP about the car ramp instead of retail at the Hennepin/Washington corner. Retail became impossible when the city decided to require the corner to be reserved for the pretend streetcar, and as far as the ramp goes, I'm very much in favor of valet parked cars having one co...

Yeah, I'm not a business guy, but I really can't buy that a sign is that important, especially for a business that isn't really customer facing in the same way Wells Fargo or Target is.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

As I understand it, the ordinance specifically has an exemption for hotel signage, on the grounds that it helps (drunken?) guests find their way back, and there was a specific clause in the stadium legislation preempting the city ordinance for the stadium and also for the WF towers. The only signage...

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail

The MN Chamber of Commerce has apparently realized that transit is good for business, and will be pushing for it in this session. Will that actually convince a couple Republicans to go along with it? We'll see.

I saw Columbia was closing when I walked past earlier this week, but North Face is news to me.

I wonder if there's someone working on assembling property for a redevelopment?

I'm assuming that it just never occurred to them to do condos until they ran some numbers for Gateway and realized the DT condo market is hilariously undersupplied.

That's correct.

Man, if $310k gets you a 530sf unit, I'm super curious what the $245k starting price gets you.

Well, technically, it looks like Hwy 77 is in Burnsville for about a quarter mile just south of the river.

That being said, that National BRT Institute website doesn't seem to be the most reliable resource.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Wonder what happened - anecdotal, but they've been packed every time I've been there, including last Friday night.

In more hopeful news, the new brick and mortar Hibachi Daruma location, a couple blocks south of the now-closed Arby's, is now open until 8pm seven days a week.

Yeah, I'm hopeful that, with this space vacant again, the City Center owners will loop it into the upcoming renovation and split it into three (or twelve!) separate spaces.
