Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I ride on 24th nearly every day with my kids. Traffic has been both slower and less frequent since the roundabouts were put in place. Plus trucks seem to have gotten the message that 24th isn't for them.

Re: Subsidized and/or Affordable Housing

Question for anyone. What's your current thinking about new affordable housing (i.e. restricted by AMI) within existing areas of concentrated poverty? Particularly in areas of particularly deep poverty, where the average median income is already less than 30% of AMI? Is this just further concentrat...

I'm pretty underwhelmed by it all. Someday I'll probably buy beer on a Sunday.

Re: Seward Commons

I've been following Seward Redesign's work to build market-rate housing at Seward Commons; they are finding it hard to fully finance a market-rate development in a low-income census tract, though proximate to the Blue Line Franklin Station. As I understand it, the rents a development here would supp...

I want to see these springing up all over Minneapolis. So much more appealing than the full and 1/2 block developments that are the norm.

That's actually Smith Foundry, which is still in operation, to many neighbors' dismay. The Roof Depot site is just across 28th St from here.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

I live to the Southeast of the stadium and wish that it could look like this from our vantage point. Instead, I get to look at the stadium's massive butt crack whenever I head downtown. This side looks nice.

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

I agree, I think the newer rendering is improperly scaled on the satellite image, and the "new" parking structure is actually the existing parking ramp. They share a similar design, including the stairwell that faces 2nd St SE. Further, 2nd St SE is narrowed in the new rendering (about hal...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium

Ok, I've had this crazy idea regarding stadium design, and I think a soccer stadium (with smaller crowds) in Snelling/University (a dynamic revitalizing neighborhood) could be the right spot. Why don't we design stadiums to be a little more integrated into their environment? You know, ringed by mix...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Anyone know what's going on in the parking lot on 26th and Franklin (next to Articulture, across from Zipp's)? I don't remember seeing anything here, but there's fencing up and some heavy machinery. The Seward Co-op has a long term lease (with option to buy, I believe) on the former Franklin Co-op ...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion

My impression was entirely different than mndible's. She came across as someone who has some strong ideas about where the city is failing and who has a passion toward working on them. She barely beat Ty Moore, a socialist candidate, in the election - something she acknowledged in the discussion - so...
