Took a photo of the development at the NW corner of Marshall & Finn last night. Pleased to see this corridor adding a fair number of units.

Re: Raymond Station area developments
The structure of the bank is mostly down and it looks like they're starting to work on the foundation.
I set up this little construction cam https://twitter.com/UCambot to track the progress.
If anyone has suggestions for somewhere other than twitter to post this lmk.

Do you think the whole block will go at the same time? Is there benefit to developing such a large parcel simultaneously? I could see it going in 3 or 4 phases. Development of walmart seems most imminent. (I went to their liquidation sale last week. felt like a cool post apocalyptic type scenario. g...

Re: Rice Creek Commons (TCAAP site) - Arden Hills
Just put everyone our of their misery, Ramsey County! My development proposal for this site is to plant trees everywhere. Just because there is a large vacant piece of land doesn't mean it needs to become a master planned development. The location of this site has never made much sense for the kind...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
I'm just skeptical that the ridership will be heavily intra-line rather than primarily commuting into downtown. I don't see the in-between destinations to drive that in the near future. I share this skepticism. I don't think you can compare SW to the blue line on the lack of 'stuff' at stop locatio...

Re: Ironclad Apartments & Moxy Hotel - Washington & Chicago
The scale of this building is remarkable, and it makes Washington feel small, which is incredibly welcome. Agreed. I share an appreciation for the ~urban feel~ of a street between 12 story buildings. But also, winter days here are short. My last place was just north of the freeway and I really enjo...

What frustrates me most about this project is the lack of retail frontage. Especially at Lake and Emerson. One of the things that excited me most about the hotel project was that it would begin to make a stronger pedestrian oriented connection between LynLake and Uptown. The design of Lake and Emer...

I believe we twin citiyans have a tendency to pat our own backs. At the risk of enabling that, I thought I'd share this link. http://www.michiganfuture.org/assets/uploads/2018/05/Minneapolis-Report-Regional-Collaboration-Matters.pdf Policymakers in peer states think our bodies of regional government...

I've been doing some research looking into the impact of public transportation on pedestrian safety. I've been thinking about it ever since I came across this thing earlier this year. https://www.twincities.com/2018/02/11/soucheray-when-a-fellows-right-hes-right-and-mr-rohlands-right-about-our-train...

I'm excited about this project and am glad they're keeping the tower. I also like the idea of the peace totem but... I'm hoping they do a bit better than "May Peace Prevail" in lime green, 1,000,000 pt Arial font. What are the odds that's just a placeholder and they hire an artist for the ...

Could the setback be a shade thing? There's something to be said for a closed in urban feel, but on the other hand I think plopping a blocklong six-story building flush with the south side of university would make this stretch a lot darker in the winter.

I certainly wasn't lamenting the loss of Northern Metals. I'm excited by the idea that this area could eventually be home to something more neighborhood-friendly but I'm not sure what that looks like. The 2040 plan has this site for "Production Mixed Use", which it says means that the site...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
My thoughts as well. I can live with a smallish building, but I'm worried we'll get an updated suburban-style bank with some apartments on top.One thing that could flip this is if somehow WF retains their drive thru or parking lot in some form.
