Re: 80 Broadway St. NE

So I understand why Broadway needs to be four lanes, at least west of University. Traffic counts of 20-25k. But why does Marshall also need to be a four lane death road? Would also be cool to see bike lanes across the Broadway bridge, then connect to maybe 13th Ave NE and Ramsey St (the Graco rail ...

Re: Mill City Quarter - 300 South 2nd Street

Working nearby I've been wondering about this too. The square footage is 14,500, but it looks like it could be split up. Parking may be a hard sell for that big space. The meters on the street and within the woonerf seem to be full most of the time during the day, is there any public parking in the ...

Re: Nord Haus - 315 1st Ave NE (208' - 20 Stories)

I'm surprised to see the auto shop still there next to the future Phase 3. Nothing against the shop but it's going look really out of place on that corner.

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

Interesting, I've often wondered about that underused lot on 2nd/Broadway. It looks like Catholic Eldercare has been sitting on these lots for a long time, 1991, 1995, 2007 for the house. It's too bad they don't own the Doroschak corner property too, it could've been a great opportunity to improve t...

Re: Mill City Quarter - 300 South 2nd Street

Smith & Porter is opening (now open?) at the ground floor of the senior housing part of this project. Also a Cafe will be run adjacent to the restaurant. http://www.smith-porter.com/ The cafe opened on Monday, I think it's called Porter Cafe. The restaurant's been open for a couple of weeks.

Re: Downtown East - Wells Fargo / Radisson Red / Edition Apt

Just walked through there. The sign in the skyway today says 550: Caribou/Einstein, WF ATM and McKinney Roe (connected on first floor) and 600: WF Bank branch and D. Brians. Caribou and D. Brians eh? Doesn't get more "beige" than that. Great complement to the Caribou and Subway a block ov...

Is the Millwright Building going to be on the 3rd St side of the West tower where the blank wall is now?

Re: Northeast (and Southeast) - General Topics

Has anyone heard anything new on the Grain Belt sign? We're approaching 10 months since news broke about Schells possibly buying it. Property records indicate it is tax forfeited land (which was fofeited as of the end of June), which now puts it's ownership with I'm assuming Hennepin County. It is ...

Re: Public trash cans

Good point! As I walk around Hennepin and 1st Avenue NE I'm always wondering why there is so much broken glass and trash everywhere. You have me thinking it's because there is really nowhere for people to toss the trash. Sure, they could carry their trash with them, but it's not happening. It raise...

Re: Minneapolis Fiber Internet and Cable Services

Has anyone tried USI's new wireless TDM network technology that's currently being rolled out with speeds of 25-75 Mbps? I'm wondering how the reliability compares to their traditional wifi network. I work in IT, so reliability is important to me when I'm on call. I'd love to switch from Comcast but ...

Re: 700 Central Avenue Northeast Apartments

Here is the Leasing page for the retail/restaurant portion: http://www.hoytproperties.com/index.php/property-search/700-central-redevelopment/ I also found on the city website that in back in December the city council approved their request for a transit oriented development grant submission to the ...

I noticed some fresh "For Lease" signage on this building today. It's been nearly a year without any news on this project, does anybody know if this is still moving forward?

Re: Minneapolis Fiber

They key is to talk to someone from the Customer Retention Dept. I had a very amusing call with this department when I cancelled DSL a while back. Re: Minneapolis Fiber

Thought I would drop by and update on a few reasons for this announcement;

Travis, thank you for your insight and update. It's exciting to think that there will finally be some really good competition in this market, even if some of us have to wait five years to get it.

I really hope that this ends up accelerating CL's fiber roll out in Minneapolis. Competition can't come soon enough, and i'm not holding my breath for USI fiber in Northeast anytime soon.

Does anybody know if this project includes the land where the existing auto body shop is on the corner of 5th/1st?
