Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
the quaint North Loop? Quaint? Hm. Scream-fests will remain. You may think this is cleverly-veiled, but it isn't. I have no problem if the city spends money in areas where residents go and enjoy their weekends. What about places that people go and use both during the week and on week ends? Because ...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Hey beige_box, Can I call you beige? Is that racist to call a person a color? Maybe I should start calling you my PC-hero. Everything I said is reality. If you think it's racist, then reality is racist. Let's recap what you accused me of: 1) A significant proportion of the people who hang out in Nic...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I honestly think this project will be a waste of my tax money. The demographics in the renditions do not represent reality. I can't imagine a white woman working on her laptop after dark outside of the Gap store. Nicollet Mall is a bus lane and it will remain so after millions is spent. The growth ...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I don't trust many people who start their arguments with, "this project will be a waste of my tax money" or "this is a waste of tax payer money." I get that you don't like getting taxed, I'm sorry that our world needs money for projects that are pretty routine for every 30 years...

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
As for this project, I'm a little surprised that given the apparent lack of typical neighborhood amenities up here that the Phase II wouldn't have more retail space (unless I'm missing something?) The Carlyle still has a fairly large amount of un-leased commercial space, which (depending on the spe...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I'm pretty sure that's KSTP's "illustration" of the air rights development slapped onto an old rendering. To my knowledge, there aren't any updated renderings of the entire DTE area that include the parking ramp development. Heck, they haven't even updated the renderings to include the st...

Re: Downtown Retail News
We need a Nordstrom and an H&M to draw people downtown. Then, all the other retailers will come. Unlike Neiman, Nordstrom will do well. Neiman was just too high end and pretentious for Minneapolis; their cheapest pair of shoes could easily cost you $300-400. But the price point for Nordstrom wou...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
The two new Wells Fargo buildings are ugly. This is 2014. Can't they build something that looks like 2014 and beyond? At least, the new Vikings stadium looks nice. I was afraid it would look like the one in Indianapolis.
