Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I hope public works will take a look at this. I was thinking of just swapping out with a traffic lane because there seem to be extra. Also seems less politically difficult than swapping out parking. Some of the parking is bookended with bumpouts which wouldn't allow bike lanes (can't remember how ma...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I wrote a post proposing buffered bike lanes in DT St. Paul of 5th and 6th. I wasn't sure beforehand whether to propose them on the right side (the bus side) or the left side (sometimes parking lanes). Any thoughts?

A couple of big differences I see: - Bicycling can be joyriding, not as likely with the bus - In my city (St. Paul) it is simply time-prohibitive to use transit for many of these errands. Bicycle rides are almost always quicker and better match your own schedule - A poor network and low frequency ma...

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

I heard recently that the planners have given up on a certain WBL downtown stop. Any real news on this?

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

Why does it cost so much money to study a second train that will run on existing tracks? Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

Schafer Richardson, 99 units, 90-some parking spaces. Most of the first floor of the building is actually parking, just the front that is enclosed. Three front doors in the commercial space, but left flexible depending on tenant desires. Will include infrastructure in case someone wants to add a kit...

that ramp apparently provides HRA money, and this proposed new ramp would not.

Re: Gold Line BRT (Gateway Corridor)

Nobody riding end to end on this line would be inconvenienced by adding the "loop." Those people who don't want the loop will still be able to get on/off the bus near the Union Depot. Adding the loop simply adds an option for people starting or stopping further west. Additionally, from what I read d...

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

That being said, I'm not sure I wouldn't rather transfer to Green Line for DT MPLS and have the Rush go somewhere else in St. Paul. If it goes on 94 I imagine the bus would be faster than the Green Line, but it would be interesting to compare times from the Robert/14th stop to DT MPLS on both routes...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

I've been told State Supply is a willing seller of their property, but I don't know if this proposal includes that space. The developers are going to present at the next Railroad Island Task Force meeting.
