Re: Harmonia - 255 2nd Ave S - 25ish / 20ish / 10ish stories

I think they are actually planning to remove all of the underground parking structure - they had already said they needed to do that since the subterranean ceiling heights were too high and the building foundations would require too much demolition to save any part of the existing basement levels,

Wow - I don’t remember that. How many years ago? The only proposals I can recall were the Doran blocks - two of which are in limbo. Did Doran have a version with a hotel? They had 5 or 6 development options rendered back before they started on “Expo”

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

My point isn’t that 2 B to 2.75 B isn’t a lot of money.. just that large scale public works frequently run into cost overruns and due to scale they can add up to a large amount. The issue is that so many out there use these scenarios to suggest that all transit is bad, all infrastructure is bad, tha...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

It is just incredible tome how freaked out some voices are about cost over runs… it is never great to have them… but public works projects are always at risk of unforeseen issues to emerge and are often unavoidable.

I literally drove by today - but the rain was so hard I couldn’t take a picture! It looks surprisingly big! The tan stone is warmer than I thought - and the glass is less blue. I’ll get a pic in the next day or two when it is dry and maybe sunny.

Re: Sears Redevelopment

I hope nothing is built here until a really great proposal is put together. It should be great architecture to compliment the government complex. There have been some renderings a few years ago that felt like a field of 501s… I hate to see the “minimum” being proposed when it should be much higher p...

Great points and overview Alexschief! You’ve given us a great sense of the project and the community concerns. I am 58 and all my life North Minneapolis has been complex like this. So underserved and so fragile in some ways. You hate to think that this kind of investment is either not valued, or is ...

I was an ad agency guy and staying in a hotel for 500 a night wasn’t really a big deal… things have changed and budgets have been much tighter for agencies over the past 5 to 10 years… but many agencies are owner by a holding company and they negotiate corp rates that are pretty competitive. I staye...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Anyone have scuttlebutt on Target office thinking? I spent Christmas Eve with a fairly senior (design department head) Target worker, and when asked, their response was that they are never going back. They said maybe they’ll go in one day a week when there’s a special meeting or something. They wer...
