Re: Renting vs. Owning | Apartments vs. Condos
What's the consensus on owning a condo? I know many people would simply say "don't" and just continue renting until you're financially able to buy a house (assuming that you some day want a house, not a condo). I'm thinking like either a condo conversion in an old 4-plex or 6-plex (1910s-...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I was wondering if anyone has read/knows anything about the residential vacancy rate in downtown? I know there was a spike in the beginning of the year, I am curious to see how well the market is absorbing all of the new units.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Would have to imagine the more expensive tickets might help that a bit. It's pretty trashy at present. I've gone to a Vikings game annually for a bit, and, notably, my last time in the Metrodome I got to be in the background (starting about 4:26) of this neat video: fqO2M0Vd59M I even got my first ...

Re: Union Victory Day
The Confederacy was wrong. There was no way the institution of slavery would end without serious conflict. The Confederacy was void of all valor and honor. Did you know that slavery persisted, and was legal, in the north after it was illegal in the south? The Emancipation Proclamation (January 1, 1...

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
Thanks for the update. That is encouraging, given how low the vacancy rate was earlier this year.A friend of mine who works at lpm, said they're at 50 percent.

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
This is my very first post. I have been following urbanmsp for about a year now and check it religiously. I had to create an account when I saw something was going to be in LPM. As a person who is moving to LPM this summer, I am very excited to see it will be a brewery. I think it will bring someth...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Well that's not true, you've been posting the same thing in this thread since October (page 3) and every few pages since. Moving on... That's a pretty high purchase price, especially considering all of the quasi-public extras they have to include for "free" (huge plaza, streetcar accommod...

Re: 10th & Marquette Development
.Let's compile a list of realistic ways to make this development better, in a way that city staff, the Planning Commission, and elected officials can use that information to influence a better project outcome. 1. Fire the architects. I actually like the tower, but I'm a sucker for that stark, graph...

Re: 10th & Marquette Development
Yeah, I don't think I care for this, along with destroying one of the few buildings of note in the area...it takes away all but one retail space on the ground level...making a dead street wall out of one of the few places in downtown that is not! I agree! I can't believe they are going to destroy s...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
http://finance-commerce.com/2015/02/downtown-apartment-vacancy-rate-shoots-up/ Does anyone know what the article says? Why does Marquette advisors think the market is not saturated, and what is the vacancy rate at? This does not seem to bode well for continued construction downtown, or Duval's 80 s...

Re: Mozaic
I would think there must be a better reason than just another offer. I am sure Code42 signed a contract with Ackerberg and I doubt they breached their contract just because they got another offer. Doubtful. Breaching a contract simply means there's a penalty to pay. If they have another offer on th...

Re: Mozaic
I bet someone offered them a better deal downtown in either existing or speculative/proposed office space. Huge blow to Mozaic though, I liked the building.
