Re: Anoka
Lots happening in Anoka. - Development posted above is in progress, looks nice. - A few of the old cottages from the mental hospital have been successfully transformed into Veteran housing. - The senior living complex Homestead, is gearing up toward phase 3 of their development (over by Northstar an...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
If any of you commute on Highway 10 through Anoka and Ramsay you're in for a world of hurt starting next year and running through ~2025 as three projects get underway. First is the project rebuilding Highway 10 from West Main to Thurston. West Main bridge gets replaced and exit ramps get round-about...

Re: 17 North Washington - CA Ventures - 27 stories - ~300'(?)
Wait a minute, I'm out of the loop, I know there is construction on the adjacent lot, but is there something happening with that building too?Architect better take inspiration from the Dophin Staffing building, that's all I'm saying.
EDIT, nevermind I'm an idiot.

Re: The Once and Future Dayton's
Caught a few glimpses of the inside this week. Walking along 8th they had a door open and the first floor area within still looked pretty barren. Then on the second floor back by where the mens's suits used to be they are building some new walls around the skyway change from Daytons to the Radisson ...

So fascinating to see them auger those holes. Just piles of super bright fine sand (I'm guessing sandstone). Looked like beach sand.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
At the corner of 3rd and Henn they are now excavating the limestone bedrock, very fascinating to see how much rock is down there. If you stand opposite on Washington you can get a nice view of it.

They were out there again this morning, opposite side of the parking lot (I think a 405 parcel).

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Got off the Northstar this morning and it looked like there was a boring crew on the 408 4th Ave N Hines lot. They were in the corner close to the station and the bike trail. Probably nothing, but I know Hines once had a nice rendering for this site..

Re: Renaissance Square / The Andrus
I agree with Lileks, I'd rather see it returned back to its original crisp appearance. I know it's just a low detail rendering of what they want to do, but I hate the arches and this new version somehow looks cheaper than the 80s version we have today. That said, I can't believe this building has sa...

Such a half-assed looking renovation, definitely seems like a holdover until a realistic redevelopment comes along.

We were given a meaningful answer by twincitizen, so I don't think it was out of line to ask the question.

I feel like it makes no sense to sever the skyway connection to the Radison Blu that went through the old Men's suit section.

Re: Anoka State Hospital - Anoka
The housing for homeless veterans is gaining traction. Anoka's council minutes (9-18 reg mtg minutes and 9-25 worksession minutes) have more details, but it is close to actually happening. Anoka is having a rally to raise awareness of the project. Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 5-7p.m. at the Hi...

What does this mean for some other County owned buildings? For example the Family Justice Center sits on a lot that is over half the size of the block. That would a nice property to get back on the tax rolls....

Re: 420 E Hennepin Ave
Any chance that this will make for a substantial development? Irregular blocks like this can make for a unique building. 20 stories would be nice even.
