Re: Sears Redevelopment

Per Bill Lindeke on twitter, it's out of the city's hands and under the purview of the Capital Area Architecture and Planning Board: https://twitter.com/BillLindeke/status/ ... 1906566145

Re: 1930 Hennepin Ave

Yes, I recall that from awhile back. Still, no. A curb cut on Hennepin when Colfax is available is insane.

Why are people so frickin' crazy about parking? Do they think people just drive in and out of their parkment parking lot all day?

8 unit project approved last year for this site with the condition it be three stories. So instead a new three story project is proposed but now with 36 units. http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-214660.pdf Well done neighborhood. Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

The comments on the 48th and Chicago stop are pretty great: https://www.metrotransit.org/d-line-meetings Basically, it's a ton of people saying there should be a stop here, a few saying maybe it could be in a slightly different spot (don't think those suggests really work), a handful of business own...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I haven't really been watching all the excruciating details of this particular sausage being made. Is Saralyn the de-facto leader of the homeowner "resistance"? Don't know about Saralyn, but former CM Lisa McDonald and BET chair Carol Becker have claimed to be co-founders of Minneapolis for "Everyo...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Ave Development & RR Corridor/Grain Elevators

Just looking at the geography, it seems like it would make more sense to access the parking from the alley and put the parking on the alley side to put some space between the building and the houses across the alley. But maybe that doesn't work with the utility line that runs over the property.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

The revised plan is supposed to be coming out any time now. Complaining that it's not out before it's ready to be out is, well, not much of complaint.

And yes, we did note that you don't have an explanation of how hiring a PR firm keeps anyone in the dark.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

- Keep council members who oppose the plan in the dark about the new draft plan as long as possible, and, and spring it on them just before the vote. - Keep the public in the dark as long as possible by embargoing communications with reporters until just before the plan is released. What does the h...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

Right. Lisa McDonald also said, "they only talked to the people they hand picked to talk to" (paraphrase). Right after saying there were 10,000 comments and ignoring tons (more than a hundred) meetings open to the public. She should know she's lying.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I mean, they face an opposition that has no compunction about lying to get their way (yesterday it was Lisa McDonald implying that the comments are somehow being hidden from the public, when they are readily available to anyone: https://www.facebook.com/fox9kmsp/videos/2202567920019926). I can see h...

Re: Bike Share

We already have a system of fixed location bike stations. The point of dockless, with enough bikes, is they can be pretty much everywhere. Hubs only stand in the way of them actually working like that.

Re: Bike Share

I thought the hubs were city-mandated because of (dubious) clutter concerns? So far, the hubs render the new bikes kind of useless. There are no hubs south of 21st between 35W and Hiawatha, for example. If you want to go there, you will get charged an extra $5 for leaving the bike other than at a hu...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan

I don't think there's any way they are going to change what's west of Hennepin, and, as much as it pains me to say it, they are probably right about the politics not to. Yes, it should be treated the same as east of Hennepin, but doing that now is just going to create further enemies. I agree with y...

Re: North Loop Development (Not West Elm Hotel & Condos) - 102-120 1st Street N

Maybe I'm crazy (and I'm certainly less qualified that some of you), but this looks like a major improvement to me, with the massing of each half being much more congruous with the historical references. At an angle or at a distance, they look good and like separate buildings. The issue is the middl...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

The space by the clinic, which is where the current southbound stop is located, is not big enough, I don't think. It's also before the stop light, further slowing service. The space by the liquor store definitely is not big enough, given the curb cut on Chicago. But to the extent that this is a disc...

I suppose there's a reason the tower is set back from Washington, but it looks weird in the rendering.
