Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

I'm confused how higher frequency and greater capacity is reduced service, especially for Roosevelt, where keeping the existing route wouldn't put it any farther away or Washburn, where it seems pretty easy to make the school route the main route. A BRT stop right outside each high school seems like...

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

There's also the issue of serving the high schools, as the 46 has special school runs that detour off the main route at Southwest HS and Washburn HS. Seems like you could just make Nicollet to 50th the regular route to serve Washburn, although that would mean missing the small commercial node at Gr...

Nuts that there's no network of downtown bike lanes, though, right where bike share could most replace cars for short trips.

Re: Ayd Mill Road

Either way, I live in Midway and it is my route to anywhere in Bloomington or southwestern suburbs This is going to veer off topic, and yeah, I know I'm a weirdo who avoids suburbs, but those places are way closer to me than they are to you and I like never go there. Do you make a lot of trips from...

The proposal for the 4700 block of Cedar was at the Planning Commission Committee of the Whole. Tweets about it here: https://twitter.com/ajm6792/status/1111379650901508096 Contrary to the first tweet, turned out to maybe the 5-7 non participant observers there. I'd really like to see this projected...

Why does that show a car and an RV on Nicollet Mall?

From the Go Fund Me (https://www.gofundme.com/bull039s-horn-beer-for-water): he Details Total Project Cost: $114,000 1) Rain garden to treat parking lot and roof runoff. 2) Two above ground 500 gallon cisterns. A pump will allow for the harvested rainwater to be used for the rain garden and planting...

Re: Southside - General Topics

Thought maybe they were using permeable asphalt or something, but doesn't sound like it. On streetview it looks like it's essentially gravel now (broken old asphalt?). Don't think gravel is allowed, even though it's permeable and preferable in my view to concrete or asphalt as long as it isn't runni...

This is so much better than what's there that I'm even having trouble coming up with small critiques. But it would be even better with another story.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

I think Minnesota winters are going to be the death of micro apartments in Minneapolis. The city as your living room doesn't really work in our climate. People are going to get crazy cabin fever in those places. My guess is that at the end of the day, the only viable market for apartments like thes...

Re: 1400 Park Avenue

They appeared to be putting up additional banners this morning, and Xcel was on site. They were working on one pole and there was a pile of additional poles on the ground, so I'm assuming they were moving the existing utility poles.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

I've been in some of these studio units, and the thing that would drive me crazy is this: No sane person is going to sleep on a pull-out mattress for more than a couple of nights, so you're going to have a bed, not a couch, in the middle of your apartment. Which is maybe fine, but if you have guest...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Development & RR Corridor/MinHi Line

I didn't have a problem with the original, but that does look better. Measuring via Google Maps, it's right on the line of 300 feet to the creek, but again, there's a freeway, a light rail line and a wall in those 300 feet. And you can totally see the new building with the Cub from the trail, which ...

This is my cue to note that the parking at Loring Green East, which could not be rented to non-residents, was never full. To the point that a resident would store parts of his antique car collection there. Mind you, the people who bought our condo were concerned about only having one space until the...
