Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors

Yes pllllease! There is sort of a transit desert between Chicago and Hiawatha Aves, especially south of 38th St. The 14 on Bloomington is slow but relatively frequent north of 38th St where it branches, and the 22 goes on Cedar north of 35th St. I had just been bugging MetroTransit to push the 133 ...

I was unsure about the siding as it was going up, but it's really grown on me. I think it looks good every time I go by.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

They were putting jersey barriers up around the full block this afternoon and there's a Reuter Walton trailer on the half block, which has chain link around half of the lot too.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

The parking lot at third and Chicago, which I thought I read at some point was owned by the Wilf's, is closed and blocked off at the moment. Is something going in there?

Nope. Doesn't appear to have been touched since it was boarded up.

Re: Arby’s Island

Yes, Mpls needs more affordable housing, but using this corner for filler/affordable housing is a lost opportunity to help define what Uptown is. Referring to housing as "filler" is not a good look. Otherwise you get the suburbanization of Uptown, where you don’t know if you’re in Uptown or Eagan o...

There were quite a few people in it when I walked through Wednesday afternoon and they didn't all look like Wells Fargo officer workers.

It's not even a good bus route, with the lights giving clear priority to cross traffic.

Noted the tree today though. A few dead/unwell but vast majority looked fine.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

Status update: there's currently a parked backhoe and some stored jersey barriers in the northeast corner. If there's any actual activity, it's in the extreme southwest corner that I can't see (i.e., I don't think there's any activity).

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

^Agreed in theory (need to think it over fully). I was riding the fence between Walz and Murphy, definitely leaning Murphy lately. I was fully ready to support Murphy following the unexpected endorsement. Her choice of Erin Maye Quade as running mate immediately pushed me toward supporting Walz, ho...

Re: US Congress and MN House Elections 2018

Way! A mess that was completely avoidable had Swanson either run for governor or been able to secure her parties's endorsement for AG. Thans, Lori. But at least Keith is more appealing than Hatch for AG. Initial reaction is that Torres Ray would be fine in the house but I'll probably back Ilhan, who...

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections

It's a snapshot. Different people will view it differently. To me it looks like the calm before the storm. The birthrate continues to fall and the mortality of the largest generation in the history of America will start ramping rapidly in the next decade. The first of the boomers are now 73. The mo...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)

More than just proximity to the Blue Line, they didn't carry Interior 3 very far north from the A Line. But now that I'm looking, 34th Ave north of 46th Street is both near the Blue Line and served by the 46 and could probably get corridor treatment too. The area around the 38th Street station seems...

Re: Any interest in a Dutch-style bike rider gathering?

I seen a bike like this around Minneapolis before. I would be interested in getting one myself I'm pretty sure it was a Dutch style bike. I would absolutely love to be able to have the space to store this easily and do weekly grocery hauls. Although I'd be skeptical on how easy it be to balance it ...

I was not encouraged when I rode by this morning. Lake was still closed between Chicago and Park and I wondered whether that's due to risk of collapse.
