Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
Franklin avenue works better with the current set up because there is only space for 2 lanes of car traffic plus the pedestrian/bike space. Central Ave-Third ave does not need 4 lanes of car traffic at the expense of dedicated bike lanes.

Forcing pedestrians and bikers to coexist in +13 feet of width is a bad idea.

Re: Bicyclist Demographics (and popular image)
In his new Copenhagenize book, Anderson-Colville says we need to make easier and/or faster to get somewhere by bike, compared to by car. That’s the *only* major thing that motivates humans. We’re pragmatic, after all. In a non-recreational sense that is probably true. I stopped commuting by bike an...

Re: US Congress and MN House Elections 2018
I've got no love for Swanson, but it was clearly Ellison's bizarre decision to walk away from being a Representative to pursue the AG position that really caused the chaos. 100% False. Lori's decision process began on Saturday by pulling out of the AG endorsement after the first ballot. Ellison's d...

Yes, it is. I frequently find myself in need of a Mtn Dew at 11pm. This will be nice. They're also applying to extend their operating hours to have the store open 4am-2am seven days a week. That's a good amenity for the neighborhood, at least.

Re: 920 S 3rd St
The city should consider purchasing the western most portion of this. If they did they could use that land to turn the Hiawatha Bike Trail north towards Washington Avenue and better dump bike commuters onto Washington Avenue and South 2nd Street.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
I'd love to see of that inspire this parking. For instance, what if the side of the parking structure facing the park and lake was sloped a bit so it could form an earthen hillside. In winter it could function as a sledding hill. That parking garage is really cool. However, I doubt they could go su...

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
How about 50% hill / 50% parking ramp? Cover the lakeside with a downward slope and trees. Then people can hike (or take the elevator) up to top for views of Downtown, Lake of the Isles, and Maka Ska. When I was in Ireland a couple weeks ago, we visited the Cliffs of Moher on the west coast, and th...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Avenue Development & Grain Elevators/Freight Corridor
Also, why the rush to kick out all industrial uses from this corridor? What's that about? That stuff has to go somewhere, and the Hiawatha corridor (outside of station areas and especially on the east side of the highway) is a seemingly ideal place for it. If I'm calling the shots, I'd keep much of...

That's a pretty decent location for a hotel in the area. Since the article is locked are there any details about height or number of rooms?

There seems to be something missing. Why would the park board prevent this? What is the political motivation to do so?
