Conversion of a mansion, which is still unequipt with electricity, to apartments.

Does anyone else feel this building deserves some other use?

Re: Star Tribune Blocks

What is the feasibility of creating a bridge that humps over park and portland that acts as a connector/virtual hill. I think it could be pretty cool (and expensive).

Re: Solar power

As for cars, electric vehicles are only as 'green' as the energy source that provides the electricity My only quibble with your post is that electric vehicles make use of electricity generated at large plants, which should be more efficient than every vehicle running an ICE. So even if you're getti...

I grew up in dfw, and they never refer to it as the Dallas metro.

Re: Northstar

Ya I have family who works for BNSF, and believe me, $100 million is cheap. Alevery second the track window is taken up, the company loses money. Not to mention the liability the railroad would have if a derailment (surprisingly not that isolated) hit a commuter line.

Re: 4Marq - (400 Marquette Avenue)

I'm not allowed to discuss tall buildings or a desire for tall buildings on here anymore, but I do agree with your post John We all like to get a development hard-on by drewling over tall, and curvy buildings, but the majority of people on this site are interested in hearing how a project could pot...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)

My understanding of transportation theory is that usage is likely to increase when potential riders know EXACTLY when the mode of transportation will leave. This seems like a no brainer to me. Cant cost any more than the electronic ticket machines. Additionally, can someone patent "electronic t...

Re: Vikings Stadium

Lastly - very upset they are extending the skyway. I thought the committees were pressing that the stadium be designed to interact with the surrounding area and stimulate development. How is that going to happen if people never set foot outside the stadium if they park on the other side of town and...

Re: State transportation financing and tax reform

My own idea would be to eliminate all sales taxes and user fees, and that includes tolls, fares, state park admissions, gasoline taxes, and the like and just fund what we need to with income taxes. If you are interested in developing connected, and livable communities through the use of mass transi...

Re: 15th Ave Student Housing (15th Ave SE & 7th St SE)

I don't know how I feel about this one. I'll be the first person to jump for joy when more density is added, but I feel developers are building this in the wrong place. I would like to see more activity along 4th and university. I feel as though Dinkytown should keep more of a neighborhood feel the ...

It'll be perfect for all those out-state Twins fans who drive alllllllll the way to MPLS for a game that gets rained out and rescheduled for the next day! Safe to assume you were one of those? Haha. On the bright side, Mauer is swinging lumber well! :D It will be a great location for out of towers ...

As do I! I like the size of this development. Smaller parcels allow a variety of design on a block, which IMO increases street appearance.

Re: Vikings Stadium

I've got to assume the engineers would use an appropriate material given the varying slope of the roof. Maybe we can incorporate a retractable roof that functions as a snow cleaner in some fashion (joking)!
