Re: Labeling the Transit System

The highway BRT study didn't assume dedicated guideway, so by that measure it wouldn't be METRO. Perhaps they'd be regular routes like the 535(?) bus on 35W, using shoulder lanes/transit advantage for the limited distance they're available on any given route.

It's time to rebid this. It's like they're trying to avoid contributing to downtown Minneapolis.

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Avenue Development & Grain Elevators/Freight Corridor

A blue line station at 42nd St would be sooo worth it if it'd stop some of this garbage from being built. This site plan is the perfect visual argument for 1/2 mile station spacing. Really, a dominoes drive-thru?

It was nice seeing those protected bike lanes appear since I was last on Pelham a couple weeks (a month?) ago.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017

Wow the strib editorial board is just garbage. And if someone with mobility issues does need a parking spot in front of their house, then make it a handicap spot and put a set of signs in like I've seen in St Paul (idk if that is done in minneapolis). Permit parking is also an option, or just not mo...

Yeah, basically every road in Bloomington is overbuilt and could really use a road diet.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

I was there a couple of days ago and the sidewalk is super bland. The problem is that sidewalk grey + busway grey is too much. It's like the sidewalk is just more road.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

They are going full-bore on having a separate study to figure out the Ford Site's transit, continuing where Riverview left off to save time. Tolbert amended the LPA recommendation to put in a bunch of specific dates and deadlines for various tasks to be accomplished with studying Transit between Sib...

We need to acknowledge that we really have two homeless problems. The first is people who, for financial reasons, are unable to find steady housing. The second is people who, due to debilitating mental illness or addiction, are very difficult to house regardless of financial constraints. The first ...

(Strib link b/c pioneer press changed stuff with their website) http://m.startribune.com/report-met-council-uses-different-budget-assumptions-for-feds-state/449427223/ Dibble put it concisely: Sen. Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

You'd have to beef up/grade separate more of the planned trackage near downtown. The Midtown Corridor Alone (which would be 1/5 of a Hopkins-St Paul LRT line, at 4 miles in length) would have 10k riders/day (from the Midtown study), half of Riverview. The other 16 miles should easily have an additio...

$50k per parking space: The New Frontier

Because of the sheer size of the parking structure there's probably some significant additional costs included that most smaller/normal-sized parking ramps don't need.

Perhaps they were referring to the single-mode requirement, and thus plan on redirecting the 54 Bus to the Ford Site once Riverview is built.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

In one of the PAC meeting minutes the project team was insistent that you can't apply for federal funding with a "Y" alignment because you have to advance a single route/mode combination. What's the minimum and/or recommended cost threshold to apply for New Starts funding? 46th St to Sibley Plaza on...
