Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

To have a mixed-traffic streetcar with parking on both sides, I'd think they would have the Streetcar in the outer, non-parking travel lane. The stations areas would be bump-outs into the parking lanes, with parking between stations. Down the line, we could probably retrofit Riverview such that the ...

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

Things were getting tense at the end, but there's no endorsement. 276 Carter, 137 thao, 93 no endorsement. Harris' people kept together after he was dropped from the ballot.

Another credentials report: 488/500 seated delegates after upgrading some alternates, and either 30 or 37 autodelegates.

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

We split the proposed minority agenda changes into
1) adding in the prayer breaks
2) switching the order so the mayoral endorsement comes before the school board endorsement

2) is meant to help Carter get the endorsement, of course.

1) has passed

2) passed 247 yes, 175 no

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

Apparently we're voting on the amendment in parts, so I misheard the yeah/no count(?)

First part passed by a voice vote, second part passed 265 yes, 175 no.

Re: 2017 St. Paul Mayoral Election

A minority on the rules committee is trying to force a rules change to get a Melvin Carter endorsement. http://i.imgur.com/Q0e48LH.jpg Edit: the initial results are 228 yes, 224 no. We just voted against dividing a proposed amendment, 298 against dividing it, 125 in favor. An amendment is up that wo...

Re: Tenant Rights in Minnesota

Do renters have any rights in terms of having power restored in a timely manner after an outage? Our power went out this morning, and Xcel just texted me saying it should be back on by 11am on June 14. (!!!!)

I never had to deal with a 3 day wait to have power restored growing up in a SFH.

Re: Tenant Rights in Minnesota

Dealing with the humid heat of the midwest especially when trying to sleep, is just as shitty as dealing with the cold would be if your house didn't have heat. At least with the cold you can keep putting more things on. Heat you can only go so far before you're sitting around naked and you can't do...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Maryland 4-3 is going to be maintained for the second 6-week test period. Sounds like it's going well. Biggest complaint in the comments they've received so far is complaints about drivers' ability to turn (left?) onto Maryland from local streets. Not sure that was ever easy or possible, though--it...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

So according to the evening news none of the SWLRT killing or Future-LRT killing crap made it into the transportation bill (ie requiring state approval of future LRT lines), though Hennepin County will pay the State's share of SWLRT's operating costs now. It also sounded like Metro Transit's budget ...

By accident I drove through the W. 54th St bike boulevard. It's amazing. I want that should be the default intersection design for every local residential intersection in every Minnesota city.
Not being a biker or a Minneapolis(?) resident, where exactly is this?

Cities Skylines is releasing a mass transit expansion on May 18th for $12.99. https://www.paradoxplaza.com/news/cities-mass-transit-release-date/ I thought I read somewhere it was going to be free.
