Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

It would be a major lawsuit if they did, and I would want us to have a half completed line at that point for us to use as evidence that we were mistreated. Besides, the Green Line funding came from the FTA two years after construction began. Two years from now is 2021. And while I'm certainly not go...

Re: Sears Redevelopment

I wish St. Paul would focus on dense residential first - the offices will follow (as Minneapolis has seen in the North Loop and Mill District). That's why I think this is a good idea, actually. Empty out office space that is unwanted by anyone other than the state seeking a bargain on rent, convert...

Probably also want to make sure they've purchased the steel at its current price, and not what it could cost in a year or so.

One of their big draws is they let you park in their lot for free on Twins games if you buy a beer.

So we've established a 2-3 block walk isn't a dealbreaker for their clientele, it's only when they're saving on event parking that they're willing to do it.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

I don't disagree with there being an untapped need for a better way for people to match up with roommates, but I think prescribing it is the same sort of middle-class sensibility as a default that cost us a lot of our more affordable living options in US cities. I don't really get why the idea of sh...

Especially funny since it's incredibly easy to have your hosting provider register as the ICANN owner on your behalf to prevent this sort of embarassment.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

I submitted a FOIA request to the city to read the lease. Is there someone interested in reading them that's fluent in the legalese? I attempted to decipher them but got a bit buried in the bureaucracy.

If there is a redevelopment, I hope these retailers will be a part of the street level frontage again! However, if someone is going to redevelop these buildings... why is that damn empty lot in front of the Calhoun Square parking ramp still not developed ?! Ackerberg seems to be holding out hope th...

Single tube, with the two tracks stacked vertically instead of laid out side by site with the station platform in the center.

It might as well just be Carol Becker's personal site at this point, most of the action comes from her writing long, fact free treatises that she's no longer able to get published in Strib or streets.

All the 'NYT Highlighted Comments' are people who are 'afraid they'll have to start locking their doors.' When the newspaper of the densest city in the country is siding with the NIMBYs, something's seriously messed up.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Now if someone can dig up the proposed timetable for the route (and maybe give some more accurate time since I kinda don't trust my own numbers) I can maybe put some kind of image/chart together comparing them. Let me know if/when you've got that chart, I'd like to use it in an article for streets.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Why this requirement I don't know. The freight railroads are half the reason for the old requirement in the first place. They don't want the liability on their hands, even if these trains are built to be better. The other half is just anti-transit lawmakers making it difficult to buy train sets und...

Someone from Digi told me when they were planning their move, they hired an office consultant who told them their previous location, designed to 80s sensibilities, had three times as much space as they would need in a modern office space. So I imagine every moving company is learning something simil...

Not really liking the "Millennial renters don't care about their community" angle the owners seem to be taking as the reason they're closing.

Peter McLaughlin pushed hard for the incinerator. Just a friendly reminder.
He pushed hard for something unpopular that he saw a greater benefit in? Exactly who I want fighting with the FTA and BNSF.
