Re: Improving Metro Transit's urban bus service

Off-board fare payment is a huge time-saver, and much more on routes like the 5, 19, and 21 where a lot of customers pay cash. Also, I would imagine they’re not going to be able to give every (or even most of) the bus stops on the 2 bump-outs, probably just a select few. And the extra height from aB...

Cardigan Donuts is now a delinquent on their license. It expired on 4/1 and hasn't been renewed. Hmmm
Hope they don’t close! Not an amazing donut place, but it’s solid. And their drink selection ain’t bad either.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Fare question: I've become a little unfamiliar with the Metro Transit fare system now that I've moved away. I'm visiting soon, and noticed that there is a fare option for a "weekend pass" for $4, but it is listed under the Mobile Ticket section of the fare page. I was wondering if anyone knew if th...

Minneapolis will build a floating bus stop at Oak & Delaware to replace the current shared bikeway/bus stop. The stop serves SW Transit and U of M Corculator buses. http://minneapolismn.gov/bicycles/proje ... ed-bikeway

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)

I hope this study shows promise! Something like this should help car traffic to flow a bit better on Hennepin as well, since the right lane backed up from all the busses coming in and out of the lane It will be interesting, if they decide to implement bus-only lanes after the reconstruction, how th...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction / E Line (Uptown to Downtown)

You know how car washes have sensors that alert drivers to back up when you pull in too far? Heavily used crosswalks should get this to buzz at drivers who stop on crosswalk paint. Does the ADA require beg buttons even if the walk light is set to always happen like the vehicle traffic lights always...

The Government Accountability Office will be investigating why US transit projects, most notably subways, cost so much more than those in other developed nations. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/28/nyregion/new-york-subway-construction-costs-congress.html since the mentioned the 2nd avenue subway I...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Arterial Rapid Bus

How about Option D - add 2 or 3 more stations to the C Line and just get of the 19 entirely? Maybe that's too abrupt for Day One of service, but it seems like a reasonable long-term goal. I'd think after a few years of service, it would be pretty easy to identify which (if any) of the local stops a...

Plus, I have a feeling the NFL does not want to put such an enormous amount of effort into logistics and security again. They’d probably much rather stick to suburban locations here on out.

Re: D Line - Fremont/Emerson/Chicago Rapid Bus

That seems a bit simplistic. I’m sure it contributed, but the ridership at Chicago & 48th is decently smaller than 46th. And if they’re going to avoid other transit-supportive notes because the ridership doesn’t justify them, why should this be an exception?

Re: D Line - Fremont/Emerson/Chicago Rapid Bus

The draft station plan has been released! Since this is the part most of you are interested in, here's the project team's reasoning for not including a station at Chicago & 48th St. This station plan does not include a station at Chicago and 48th Street. The 2012 Arterial Transitway Corridor Study (...

So for the first year-plus it's potentially just going to skip straight from 46th to Downtown? It's like they're actively hostile to anyone using this thing for a purpose other than getting from a Park and Ride in Bloomington to Downtown. That’s why they slowed down the ride from the park and ride ...
