Re: "C Line" (Penn Ave aBRT)
Why would the choice between Olson/Glenwood matter to enhanced shelters on Penn? It'll be on Penn either way. That was a typo. Meant to say Olson. The line will run on Olson initially, but will duplicate service once Bottineau is running. That could be a long wait. Ooooh, that makes sense. Thank you!

"C Line" (Penn Ave aBRT)
Figured there should be a thread for this project by now. Check out the project website here . If you don't know what aBRT is, check out this site here . Here's the latest update on the A and C lines. Something I'm confused about: they're mentioning a Phase II alignment, which will be either on Olso...

Re: Chicago
Chicago's downtown BRT is coming under fire : Amongst the complaints: Only 7/8 stations will open on time (the 8th being delayed due to Loop construction) No prepaid boarding upon opening (will happen at "an unspecified time" next year) Not all buses will have level boarding (some are tall...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
Does anyone know how well Eden Prairie maintains their trails in the winter? Do they keep snow out of it? I'm wondering because I'm considering taking an internship in that city. I'll be reverse commuting from Downtown Minneapolis to Southwest Station, after which I'll bike a little under a mile alo...

I've considered a Roku and Chromecast. Any experiences to relate about pros/cons of one over the other? I had a Roku years ago and have a Chromecast now. I'm a huge fan of the Chromecast because you can use your phone. This is such a huge benefit for me because you can search for things easily (rat...

Re: Nye's Redevelopment - 100 block of E Hennepin Avenue
I assume the developer is going to pay for the initial application of the street's glossy finish, but how will the city pay for maintaining it? Also, won't the lack of traction be dangerous both for drivers and pedestrians?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
So far, Hopkins, Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie have granted municipal consent. http://www.masstransitmag.com/news/12115141/minnetonka-eden-prairie-and-hopkins-approve-scaled-back-swlrt-plans Also, gotta love the thinly-veiled racism and hyperbole from Eden Prairie residents: Some of the more substant...

Yeah, I remember in some meeting notes somewhere they were going to install these in light rail stations and possibly bus stops. And I also heard that they're going to install information kiosks ON the light rail trains.

Related story: riding the light rail now and just a few minutes ago we had to stop leaving DTE westbound because cars on Park were blocking the box. I've never had that happen before!

TriMet opens the MAX Orange Line: http://www.masstransitmag.com/press_release/12113999/trimets-orange-line-opens Along with that, they open the first transit/bike/pedestrian-only bridge in the United States (according to the article). Pretty cool! Also, they have 2 Park and Ride stations (boo!) that...

Yeah, they just need to ask the driver to charge them local fare. I frequently use SWT and MVTA buses to get around the U when they get there before the other buses do.So... will North Loop residents be able to "reverse commute" into downtown Minneapolis on SW Transit buses?

Also, SouthWest Transit is making some major changes to their service. Apparently, they'll be adding some trips to serve overnight shifts on reverse commute trip 684 for the first time. The change that stood out to me was extending all Downtown Minneapolis trips from the north end of the Marq2 corri...

Fun fact, up until at least 2002, MT's guide for persons with disabilities told them they should wait for everyone else to get on the bus before they should board.
