There were jersey barriers corralled in the middle of the parking lot this morning and no cars on site. Hoping this gets underway!

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

The bi-directional bikeway on 28th street is just temporary for the Greenway detour, right? Really makes you think how much more useful 26th/28th would be if they were two way. Obviously signal reworking at Lyndale, Nicollet, Dupont, etc. is the biggest barrier, but I think that investment would pay...

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp

I agree, it is all pretty ridiculous, but there will probably have to be some compromise. Since they legally can't develop themselves, they should sell off to a developer that could be far more creative with it. Coming back with a proposal for a couple hundred parking spaces and a couple hundred res...

Neel Kashkari was on WCCO radio this morning and was asked about the ramp. He reiterated that they have a parking problem (lol) and said something to the effect of "we're not done yet." Very ominous.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

I think it turned out well, it just looks undersized for the downtown core - it's just barely taller than it is wide. Really shows the difference in office vs multifamily floor height.

Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 36 stories / ~400'(?)

Agreed on the comments on vehicle access up a ways. If you have good signage off 3rd Ave and direct office contract and resident parking there, it could work. Might as well not give a reason to direct 500+ cars a day to 5th St. Then have a nice auto court for Ubers/drop-offs that are probably 15-20%...

It will definitely be a big change to views of the skyline from a distance as it is the first big leap past Hennepin. When US Bank Stadium was announced in 13/14, I thought at the time we would see the skyline start to shift south and east. That's happened to an extent, but the pull of the North Lo...

We saw this coming, but here it is in the business journal. Super disappointing. We got two towers in the 70/80s, three (edit: four) towers in the 2010s, will the HPC be reset in 30 years to allow another round? Re: Wells Fargo Redevelopment - 801 Portland - 16 stories - 180'

If I remember the renderings correctly you're right, there is a small portion next to the alley that is a single story. But all of the new retail square footage is along 8th under the tower. 3-4 walkup units on Park as shown in the plans must be staying.

Kraus Anderson presented an update to the Elliot Park neighborhood last night. Nine residential units formerly at ground level on the 8th and Park side have been replaced with about 5,800 sf of retail space, bringing the total unit count down to 341. The retail space is designed so that it can be br...

Anyone heard of "Breakfast Bar" going in at the old Byte space at 319 First Avenue N.? I saw they blocked the windows today... I really hope 5 over 1s are not a thing in the next development cycle, but I have a feeling they are here to stay. Land this close in would probably be 7+ stories PT concrete in Seattle or Denver. Maybe we should just feel lucky that we are getting underground parking and not Texas donut style devel...

Initial marketing is online for this project -- 'Second & Second' -- https://secondandsecond.com

It's mostly to get ahead of the retail leasing. Being advertised are spaces 1,000-14,000 square feet.

Here is the brochure.

I was hoping this was for Ackerberg's Calhoun Square site when I first saw the image. If there is any place in Uptown that would get 10 stories and concrete, I thought it would be there. Hope this new developer can pull it off as it would really up the ante for future dev... and I hope Ackerberg isn...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I think it's been said here before, but Uptown is in the midst of transforming from destination retail to urban neighborhood retail. I'd like to see Uptown retain its high-end stores, but the days of businesses relying on easy parking to lure people from the suburbs for a unique "urban" retail exper...

Assuming this gets knocked down, I wonder what can realistically go in its place. It's not a huge lot, and you definitely would need to rebuild to modern standards. Maybe another Modi? http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/2018/11/cracking-franklin-aldrich-apartments-under-renovation/ This article's...
