Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

Maybe instead of crosstown connection to Edina on 50th, the A Line took 42nd to Cedar and then 66th Ave crosstown. Arterial BRT should try to stick to a single arterial per line. There are exceptions of course where roads end because of lakes or land use. If we want any kind of grid system, and I t...

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

Answering my own question: long-term, I suppose there could be a rail connection between 70th & Cahill, Grandview, and the Green Line.

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus

Increasing the frequency of the 46 sounds like a great way to build up a grid network of transit. There’s not much density west of Grandview, either along Vernon (until United Health) or along Interlachen/Blake (until you get to Excelsior), both of which are served by the Green Line Extension. So un...

So rather than consistent thoughts, you’re suggesting random thoughts should be posted in every thread?

Not sure where that would lead.

Re: Minneapolis Parking Meters

Build transit where people live; build housing where transit goes.

Advocate for hBRT on I-35W. Or take the A Line to the Green Line, and use the time you’re not driving to socialize, read, catch up on work, etc.

Transit is liberating. [emoji631]

Re: Minneapolis Parking Meters

LRT & BRT has 10 minute headways. Does that include weekends?

Politically, people will learn to fight for better transit if parking is expensive & inconvenient—just as today people fight for better parking when transit is expensive & inconvenient. [emoji848]

Re: Minneapolis Parking Meters

It’s not in the city’s best interest to encourage cars. So hike up parking prices to disincentivize cars, and to ensure there are always some spaces available for those who do drive. Transit becomes a bargain when parking is $9. People will make better choices when choosing where to live. The availa...

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics

Yeah, there’s been a small sign there for a couple weeks. They seem to be as much about clothing as anything. Probably complements Hoigaard’s, which is mostly equipment, much like having multiple restaurants with different cuisines in an area. Just guessing that the DQ is smaller than Hoigaard’s, too.

Re: West Lake Street Hotel- 3012 Excelsior Blvd (8 stories, 100')

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. So that’s going to be two lanes of traffic that will turn left to continue east on Lake Street, where currently the traffic goes straight and bends slightly left?

Re: West Lake Street Hotel- 3012 Excelsior Blvd (8 stories, 100')

I agree it’s well designed, and as the gateway to the eastern edge of Lake/Excelsior/France, it’s far superior to the ugly gateway at the eastern edge of Uptown, where Arby’s used to be.

Luckily the MPCA site for what’s in the neighborhood has text search, because the map search requires… Adobe Flash. [emoji33]

Re: Bike Share

Is Lime pivoting from bikes to scooters? I’ve heard conflicting reports of what they’re doing in Edina this year—one source said bikes & scooters, the other said scooters only. Lime’s modus operandi has apparently been to surround Mpls with their vehicles, getting support from St. Paul & several sub...

Rode an articulated bus today, along proposed pathways for the E Line. Nora Slawik, Met Council Chair, and others from Hennepin County, Mpls, & Metro Transit were onboard to discuss plans and thoughts with the Community Advisory Committee, including user qhaberle here. Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

I heard something cynical about this the other day. Something like, “The rich will have experiences, the poor will have (video) screens.” So, whether it’s a 60-inch TV, a 15-inch laptop, a 7-inch phone, or stereo 2-inch(?) VR goggles, a cynic would say the poor will be entertained. On a more positiv...

Re: Southside - General Topics

That’s a tiny parking lot, in a mostly residential area. Too bad they couldn’t‘ve turned it into a green outdoor seating area (like W.A. Frost).

I assume there’s plenty of parking available on local streets. Mpls doesn’t require them to have onsite parking, do they?
