Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Since BNSF isn't talking we don't know for sure. Possible reasons: -getting back at the county for buying the land to prevent the Crystal connection, which would've rerouted some Canadian Pacific trains onto the BNSF tracks that the Blue Line Extension would parallel -concern over liability if there...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Heaven forbid this happens, but if the Blue Line Extension gets cancelled what happens next? Does the C Line still get moved to Glenwood Avenue? Will other modes and/or a different route get looked at even though it means more bureaucratic sludge we have to trudge through? Or will the Met Council ju...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Segment A between the river and Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is almost entirely existing infrastructure, and this study seems to claim the "trail" along East Bush Lake Road where I got clipped is adequate, so I'm having a hard time taking this proposal seriously. Also I'm wondering where they woul...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Are they assuming the railroad will abandon the tracks and it'll be a rail-trail, or would the trail be parallel to the tracks? I prefer the city, county, and Three Rivers focus on segments where they could make improvements right now if they had funding instead of assuming/hoping the railroad will ...

Re: Fantasy maps

Besides a few short segments I think all of them would be "arterial" bike lanes, since these are meant to reduce travel time by bike and make it an attractive option for getting to places.

Re: State law: Drivers must stop for crossing pedestrians at marked crosswalks and at all intersections without crosswal

I’ve had this problem numerous times in Bloomington as a driver, pedestrian, and biker. Those RRFB crossings, while an upgrade over just a sign or no sign, is still easily ignored. Last week I was driving east on Old Shakopee and a pedestrian activated the RRFBs. I stop, a couple cars going westboun...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus

When I rode midday Peter Wagenius ended up sitting in front of me and I was listening to his conversation with a Star Tribune reporter. The reporter asked why we don't just invent in these (ABRT) and forget about light rail. I'm sure ABRT would get just as much riders as Southwest LRT on the same ro...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

I got clipped by a car while riding my bike along Bush Lake Road. Thankfully no injuries and no damage, and a cooperative and nice driver who stayed on the scene while I called the police just to be on the safe side. I was heading south on Bush Lake Road just before the bridge over 494. I waited to ...

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)

^Gonna have to agree with tmart. If there are any Republicans who support better transit they're either not in office or they don't put in even the tiniest effort to get these improvements funded.

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)

It would be interesting to see if the Route 495 subsidy has gone down now that it's been running for around 3 years. When it first started it was one of the highest subsidy per rider routes in the region, especially the weekend service. Also Southwest Transit has been looking at either starting a f...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Might be an obvious question, but does the full weekend closure have to do with the amount of time it takes to repair the tracks? Could the repairs be done quicker if there were more manpower? Can we have non-topic comments put into Anything Goes, or have a catch-all Transit area? I would say that ...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Every transit project that has reached the milestone Southwest LRT has has received their federal funding. And if what the Met Council says is true in that delaying the tree cutting could impact the federal funding commitment, then we’re just going to have to cut down the trees and have faith in the...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

What are the chances the tree cutting in the Kenilworth Corridor is delayed? A petition with 2,900 signatures was delivered to Walz’s office asking to delay the tree cutting until funding is 100% certain (even though at this point it’s very near certain we’ll get the funding).

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

I don't know about Chicago, but Emerson and Fremont are pretty narrow. I tried the 5 through North Minneapolis in the winter and it was a tight squeeze with all the snow we got, so my main concern is how the D Line will perform after heavy snowfall.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Southwest Prime would be my best guess. Basically the public transit version of Uber and Lyft. There are proposals/plans for multiple circulator routes within Eden Prairie with at least one serving the Golden Triangle area but I won’t hold my breathe on those being successful if they even get implem...
