Re: Fantasy maps

Silophant is correct. All of those destinations would be served by BRT or LRT on my rapid transit map which you can find on the previous page of this thread. This is only regional rail, which makes less stops and mostly uses active or abandoned railroad right-of-way. As for the Ring Line not serving...

Twin Cities regional rail system map-https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CW_28KJXxUN1A8JseDUaG9Ec_eRt9UGC&usp=sharing Approximate system length is 1,270 miles! However, most if not all the routes outside the exurbs would have a single digit number of roundtrips per day. I rerouted the line from Montgo...

Note that five blocks of Nicollet Mall are not served by ABRT, as this could be a pedestrian-only segment. This assum...

Re: Tunnels!

So are their plans going to be to have every house have a garage with an entrance to these tunnels? Or only houses where the residents can afford to have their garage hooked up to a tunnel system?

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

Well, it is also every 15 minutes midday on weekdays, the same as planned Orange Line service. OL is 15 minutes off-peak/weekends, 10 minutes during rush hour. 535 is every 15 at best (or every 30 in Bloomington as others have noted). On a personal level, I'm about equidistant to 76th/Knox or 66th ...

The 15 minute frequency is north of Knox Avenue Park & Ride, everywhere south is 30 minute frequency.

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

It’s also possible that the Lake St. station and direct access ramps to downtown won’t be open until near the end of the I-35W project, both of which are pretty key parts of the line. Instead of opening the Orange Line before construction was finished, they decided to add weekend service to route 5...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project

It may not have the speed yet, but it would still be nice to have frequent, all-day service along the corridor instead of what we have now. If they can't reach the planned speeds, then they would need more buses and more drivers to meet the original frequency. That might not be possible. Aren't the...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Is there any place on Earth, besides Tallinn, where the transit system is free? I'm not talking about specific routes or segments like the free rides along Nicollet Mall, but the whole transit system. As for police, yes we absolutely need them on the transit system. However watching the video releas...

Re: RE: Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Thanks for this info! I wish the metro would be far more independent from the Legislature's whims with regard to Transit. Here's hoping that change will start to happen. The metro can only be as independent as the legislature allows us to be. Other tham property taxes, we can't just raise funds on ...

Re: Fantasy maps

Considering it would only be a 3-4 block walk between the Purple Line and Union Depot I don't think it would be a huge deal not having it serve Union Depot. How would the D Line, and dare I say light rail, tie in to this?

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

I can't read the article because of Europe's stupid privacy policies, but here's what I think: They definitely do not need a park & ride ramp. There is plenty of parking in the suburbs. Encourage people to go to stations by other modes of travel. And this is a downtown district station, that is the ...

Do what I do with the West 7th businesses against Riverview and don't patronize them; or patronize them and kindly inform them that you took transit to access their business and upgraded transit would make it easier/better to access the area around their business. "Quality of life considerations..." Over a flipping bus stop. Please tell me they're just required to do this meeting and they'll build it anyway. Its a bus stop. Its not like they're putting in an entire transit hub. I would be more than pleased to have this in front of my home or business. Do peop...
