The good news: Agreement with TC&W

The bad news: A 2 month delay (not that that's surprising anymore)

The worse news: The Star Tribune sucks at editing and fact checking

Re: Twin Cities Underground Rail

Taking the "D Line should be subway instead" debate to this thread, I do think there is at least one corridor in the Twin Cities region that has subway potential: Nicollet-Central (or Lyndale through South Minneapolis so its farther from the Orange Line). Already existing high ridership, higher dens...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

How about some population and density data along this corridor instead of cherry picking the lowest or highest density areas.

Now it’s $8.3 billion.

Was there not a cheaper way for dedicated rail? S-Bahn type service?

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

Move the D Line to Cedar and build a full subway on Chicago/Fremont instead. Well no one here is gonna disagree with that  And here's another rough paragraph from the story: Metro Transit’s Route 5, which links Brooklyn Center to the Mall of America through north, south and downtown Minneapoli...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

Janet Moore isn’t the best at transit news. From her one sob story about Riverview to never mentioning the Kenilworth Corridor is a rail corridor.

Re: Rush Line Corridor BRT

BRT creep is real. We use the term BRT quite loosely in the Twin Cities.

Not that I’m saying this isn’t BRT, but it can be a slippery slope with these little detours.

Re: Fantasy maps

Here's a route map of limited-stop bus service along Highway 55 between Minneapolis and Plymouth, and continuing north to Maple Grove. This is instead of the "Highway BRT" on Highway 55 being proposed by the Met Council.

If there was better public transit (more than just ABRT) I wouldn't mind.

Yeah, I probably should’ve assumed that when you said through the Lowry Hill Tunnel at 3 AM.

You're right! The world also didn't end before we had bike lanes, so clearly we don't need those either.
Then we (the bikers) will bike on the road, which is legal, and if motorists don't like it then support bike lanes.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Wait a minute...people keep saying in various local forums that the trains are always empty and a huge waste of money. Are you people trying to tell that those people are full of shxt? They also complain about freeway congestion, but I drove through the Lowry Tunnel at 3am and I don't see the bottl...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)

1) They want the shelters and bus spaces at Valley View & Washington? Its a 15 minute walk between there and where the light rail station will be located, so I don't know why they want this stuff away from the actual station. 3) I would need to see more details on the service plan, but so far I don'...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

So 32,000 on the Blue Line isn't the actual average for that period?

I'm trying to understand this, but the way I see it is why not take all the weekdays in that period and average it out instead of trying to weasel your way to a higher number. Or is that not what they're doing?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

So is the data an average from September to October of 2017? How much would special events such as Twins games affect the results?

I'm only asking because I already found people on Facebook calling the results fake (or fixed) data.

Re: Tunnels!

Just so we're on the same page, transit (at least around here) used to be privately owned and operated, thought they made liberal use of the public ROW. I'm not an expert, but operations were funded by fares, while expansion was funded primarily by speculative real estate investment. At some point,...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Man, American Boulevard and Bloomington Central were really not worth building. I'm also surprised that ridership is that low at Cedar-Riverside. I really hope someday Bloomington Central Station will be closed. 28th is for the park & riders and American can be for the developments and hotels just ...

didn't know about the old Stillwater spur so decided to look into it and made a quick drawing of it Green is the main line that the Eau Claire train would use, orange is the ROW that still has some track, and yellow is the ROW that doesn't (pretty sure its a bike trail now) https://i.imgur.com/ZU2W...

Re: Twin Cities to Eau Claire regional rail

I assumed the station would be on the mainline and it would be more of a park & ride for people living in Stillwater. If this does go through I’d like to think it would open the door for a separate commuter rail project to Downtown Stillwater.
