Re: Westminster Church

I like to have tall buildings and quality lower ones as well to open up spaces. Absolutely. If someone proposed tearing down City Center and replacing it with a beautiful, celebrity architect designed tower half as tall, I wouldn't mourn the lost floors, I'd celebrate the replacement of mediocrity ...

Re: Mall of America Transit Station: Master Plan

It's interesting how in the rendering of the new station everyone looks like they're going to a business meeting at MOA. It's almost as if designers use middle to upperclass persons in the renderings to make decision makers view their project more favorably. When in fact some of these projects will...

Re: Westminster Church

My bus passes by this every day (well, for the few weeks they were on Nicollet again). I really like the look of it. It feels welcoming and a big improvement over the office building that was there. Yup, always an improvement tearing down small towers and putting up 1.5 floor buildings. Maybe we sh...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

City should focus on the B, C, and D better bus lines, and start pushing the Met Council to begin the formal planning and design process for Midtown rail. All of those projects will do far more for transportation and development than a streetcar. The money collected for the streetcar could be spent...

Anyone know if the new mall is taxi-fee? I know that idea had been floated at one point.
It is taxi free! The only vehicles allowed are bicycles, buses, and Metro Mobility vehicles.
And Uber drivers who don't give a crap. There is always that ONE.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Oh so they can't build a concrete tunnel for a train and a underground for a bike trail, then fill it in with dirt so they can build green space on top with a nice nature walk that is street grade? I mean, you could always reverse the historic designation, but that would be an uphill battle. My gue...

Re: Elliot Park

Yes, those townhomes are hideous and should be replaced. Yes, the existing apartment building (fmr Madison School) should be renovated. Cool. But replacing the townhomes with a tiny 3-story, 22-unit apartment building in this location? Not acceptable. I don't expect them to build Grant Park or Skys...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I was mad about them shutting down the trains to the public until they said they would offer FREE bus rides on the bus alternative routes. It's not ideal, but it's a tough situation and they at least seem to be trying to make it better so I give them a PASS now... well, as soon as I get my free bus ...

All non-light rail transit should be free that Sunday.
HAH! Fare should be 50 bucks! Get those people to pay MORE for making our city a mess for a week!

I've already set off my Facebook rant, but this is bullshit. Make the gladiator games attendees ride the bus, not the people that use and support transit every damn day of the year. Why should the wealthy be given exclusive access to our highest-amenity transit service? Your solution is not possibl...

In general based on people's reactions on twitter, people are beyond pissed about this. :?: I don't get why... I mean why would anybody be upset to see the public transit system they support through fee's, taxes, and regular fares get taken away from them for a day and forced to ride busses while o...

Why not ALL bus routes get a color? I mean we could call the 17 Reddish-blue-green line and the 18 Dark blue-purple line. Oh and it only seems logical that the 5 bus be Blackish pinkish-orange line.

I seen police and utility vehicles on the greenway before, they need access and cars randomly driving in the greenway has never really been an issue before. Maybe once the Midway rail line is built then it might be different.

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)

It appears Sheik's Cave is underneath Downtown. There are a bunch of links on Google talking about it. Sounds like it's mostly destroyed and not much left. It'll be awesome is somehow one of these caves or tunnels were opened up for use. I know the tunnels beneath the Pillsbury A Mill had some talk...
