Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

I'm curious, do you visit the park on the tip of Nicollet island, or the one by the power station, weekly? Assuming no, what about this would do you think would draw you regularly? They both dead end. This also doesn't go to the tip of Nicollet Island, but from the Power Station area to the lock. I...

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

After sleeping on this and reading the updated Strib article. I think it might be a good idea. We fail here to recognize the fame of the river and there are few opportunities to experience the great river up so close and personally. The Stone Arch Bridge is a different experience. People would trave...

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

They'll be better off anchoring some limestone croppings over the falls to restore the "Waterfall" look rather than this. Take the hundred million and complete Riverfirst and improve the parks.

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

Given how much $$$ and fundraising is going into the other MPRB projects and the amount of work they have currently. Maybe they should just get a sponsor and have Green Minneapolis or whoever administers The Commons build it. The Healthpartners Walkway to health! or the Mayo Clinic Mile.

Re: Seven Corners: Hotel (30 stories) & Student Housing (12 stories)

Remove the 35W ramps at Washington and build some of this on the reclaimed land instead. That would at least save the buildings on the SE end of the block. My god, at a bare minimum save the Bullwinkles building at the corner!! It's 3 stories...that has to be worth something. It would be really eas...

After they only received 1 proposal, that doesn't seem to meet the RFP, I wondered if they would cancel it and make some changes. Seems there was interest, but concerns too, which prevented more players from submitting.
Seems like this would be prime land during the next boom.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Aren't they required to build something at least 10 stories on the land? I'm guessing there are some plans for the lot? (When the proposal is public and if something is actually being built this will need it's own thread?)

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Anyone go to the DMNA meeting last night and see what the Service Center Block RFP proposals are? The little I've heard the main proposal seemed underwhelming.

A Diner of the Uptown Diner variety would be good here.
How does that differ from Band Box a few blocks away?
Band Box is way smaller, more limited of a place than the Uptown Diner.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

A Diner of the Uptown Diner variety would be good here. North Central University is also nearby in addition to HCMC. Or maybe the Wilf's will buy it and turn the whole thing into a permanent Vikings themed bar like their Longhouse. They could expand the place, add a rooftop patio for "tailgating etc...

I don't recommend it at all. But the Frenz buildings on 22nd S that are trying to turn into a COOP are over half empty. There are 4 buildings.

Hopefully, Catholic Charities and the powers to be start reaching out to the community and explaining the details. This is an actual neighborhood with young families, churches and a local college. There needs to be some due diligence done and calming potential concerns. There are always risks when y...

That tower would be a huge win for the city. I hope it gets built. It also appears this RFP has done better than Minneapolis's most recent RFP .

Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 41 stories / 550'

The lid site would be pretty close to these buildings. I would rather see buildings built on either side of the Nicollet Ave bridge over 94 first. I think the 35W lid would depend on the U of M. If they decided to expand toward Downtown and made a push for the lid with partners it may happen. I'm no...

I wonder if this and other developments in this area increase the chance of placing the lid on the highway? All of these nice buildings and such an ugly highway.

The 25 story tower is interesting. I'm really hoping St Paul gets some more activity. We need both of our Twin Cities to be strong.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

This has officially hit the 7th Street/55 intersection by the HERC plant. They were evacuating there this morning. The Glenwood closure was inconvenient, this could be much more disruptive. As an aside, be awesome to have a cool mural or wrap on the bridge as it crosses 7th street if it's the type o...
