Re: Mall of America - Bloomington

This should really help bring additional life to the Mall.

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

If some of those outlots are filled it wouldn't be nearly as bad. Many of them are hardly used especially near the residential area. Second, if you added sidewalks and bumpouts things would be greatly improved. Connections mainly need to be made across County 10 along Jefferson (Improve intersection...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

I grew up over there and probably hundreds of times have used that transit stations. A few months ago I was stranded there after getting off a bus in the middle of a severe storm. I've done a lot of biking to there and I would use Sanbournal Drive most of the time and then use a light to get a cross...

Re: Fantasy maps

It'll be interesting if one of these routes could work. Did the Northstar have a circulating bus? Second scooters and bikes provide competition of the year. I noticed a lady taking a scooter to hear car near the Metro Transit garage on 7th yesterday.

City looks for redevelopment proposal next door to the RiverCentre ramp. They seem a bit overly optimistic, but that might be the right track. (Someone might want to create a thread for this.) http://www.startribune.com/st-paul-solicits-private-development-proposals-for-rivercentre-parking-ramp/5627...

If Northern Lights Express is a success could it help build support for this? We'll have something to point to.

It amounts to about a 20% decrease. When businesses operate on the margins 20% is significant.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail

Did Mayo ever put support behind this? Seems like they're a large enough employer that they could pull some levers to remove some barriers and get something moving.

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

Seems like the loss of the hotel rooms would effect the economics for Four Seasons? I'm curious if they thought they couldn't support more.

Re: MSP to Rochester High Speed Rail

I hope something is worked out whether it's on existing rail or along 52. It seems to make too much sense to connect Rochester and MSP. How great is 52 during a snowstorm?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Not speaking specifically to the downtown, but I think it’s easy for west metro/Minneapolis people to equate St. Paul being smaller with St. Paul being irrelevant, when really St. Paul and the east metro in general have their own smaller but similar ecosystem. Like for me there was a long time when...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Be awesome if Mpls put a linear park on 5th St. connecting US Bank Stadium to Nicollet Mall. (If it went past Hennepin I fee it would mess with traffic too much.) This would make green space accessible to many Downtown workers.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

There is no question that there is more going on in DT Mpls, but DT St. Paul has a lot to offer. Some of my favorite restaurants are in DT St. Paul:Meritage, St. Paul Grill and Pazzaluna. I understand there are some great spots in Lowertown as well. I would also argue that Rice Park is easily the b...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Downtown St Paul would be a compromise between Downtown Minneapolis and Fergus Falls. It still has freeway connections and transit and a downtown ambiance with the added value of less traffic and chaos. I took the 94 between the two downtowns this week and their very different, but Downtown St Paul ...

He said in the article that they have other projects to work on. We probably won't see anything here for awhile. I assume it'll be an apartment tower. Hopefully they start the tower on 12th.

Looks like they're putting new mirrors on the light walk? Or something. They had it barricaded with plastic wrap on them. The old ones had issues? They weren't that old.

Re: Regional Water Resources (Aquifers, Rivers, Lakes)

Stories like this will get more interesting when a recession hits and cities and individuals have less funds. I also wouldn't be surprised if poorer communities face the same issues and get different responses from govt officials. I grew up in Blaine and many of the developments were built in pretty...
